LEFTIST MEDIA BACKLASH

CNN lays off 300 employees as ratings plummet

CNN is jettisoning 300 employees as viewership plummets following the Mueller report's debunking of their Trump collusion narrative they pushed for more than two years.

Once a leader in cable news, CNN made the announcement to cut jobs on Monday in light of last month's 26% decline in CNN's viewership as tracked by Nielsen Media Research. The drastic decline in ratings comes on the heels of revelations that the Left's narrative of Trump colluding with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election proved to be a fake.

Often called fake news by President Donald Trump, CNN is reportedly dismissing 200 employees and offering early retirement to 100 other senior staffers. CNN now trails behind MSNBC which also pushed the Russian collusion story and also experienced a 14% decline in viewership.

MSNBC is also being called out even by leftist media for pushing the collusion story. The Daily Beast reported in March that one of MSNBC's leading pundits, Rachel Maddow, saw her viewership fall by nearly 500,000 in one week following the release of the Mueller report. Maddow had consistently "vied for the first or second top-rated cable news program," reported The Daily Beast, but fell to sixth place following the release of the report.

Left-leaning pundit Jimmy Dore slammed Maddow on his show for her obsession with the Trump collusion narrative.

Following a clip of Maddow asking what the release of the Mueller report means, Dore responded, "Well, what it means is that you're a propagandist conspiracy theorist of the highest order and you wrecked your news show because you hate Donald Trump so much that now nobody could ever take what you say seriously."

Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day: Revisiting Islam’s Greatest Slaughter of Christians

RAYMOND IBRAHIM
APRIL 24, 2019

Armenian Christian civilians, escorted by armed Ottoman Muslim soldiers, are marched through
Harput (known as Kharpert by Armenians, the kaza of the Mamuret-ul Aziz), to a prison in the
nearby Mezireh (via Wikipedia)

Today, April 24, marks the “Great Crime,” that is, the genocide of Christians—mostly Armenians but also Assyrians—that took place under the Islamic Ottoman Empire throughout World War I.  Then, the Turks liquidated approximately 1.5 million Armenians and 300,000 Assyrians.

Most objective American historians who have studied the question unequivocally agree that it was a deliberate, calculated genocide:

More than one million Armenians perished as the result of execution, starvation, disease, the harsh environment, and physical abuse.  A people who lived in eastern Turkey for nearly 3,000 years [more than double the amount of time the invading Islamic Turks had occupied Anatolia, now known as “Turkey”] lost its homeland and was profoundly decimated in the first large-scale genocide of the twentieth century.  At the beginning of 1915 there were some two million Armenians within Turkey; today there are fewer than 60,000….  Despite the vast amount of evidence that points to the historical reality of the Armenian Genocide, eyewitness accounts, official archives, photographic evidence, the reports of diplomats, and the testimony of survivors, denial of the Armenian Genocide by successive regimes in Turkey has gone on from 1915 to the present.

Similarly, in 1920, U.S. Senate Resolution 359 heard testimony that included evidence of “[m]utilation, violation, torture, and death [which] have left their haunting memories in a hundred beautiful Armenian valleys, and the traveler in that region is seldom free from the evidence of this most colossal crime of all the ages.”

In her memoir, Ravished Armenia, Aurora Mardiganian described being raped and thrown into a harem (consistent with Islam’s rules of war).  Unlike thousands of other Armenian girls who were discarded after being defiled, she managed to escape. In the city of Malatia, she saw 16 Christian girls crucified: “Each girl had been nailed alive upon her cross,” she wrote, “spikes through her feet and hands, only their hair blown by the wind, covered their bodies.”  Such scenes were portrayed in the 1919 documentary film Auction of Souls, some of which is based on Mardiganian’s memoirs.

Whereas the genocide is largely acknowledged in the West, one of its primary if not fundamental causes is habitually overlooked: religion.  The genocide is usually articulated through a singularly secular paradigm, one that factors only things that are intelligible from a secular, Western point of view—such as identity and gender politics, nationalism, and territorial disputes. Such an approach does little more than project modern Western perspectives onto vastly different civilizations and eras.

War, of course, is another factor that clouds the true face of the genocide.  Because these atrocities mostly occurred during World War I, so the argument goes, they are ultimately a reflection of just that—war, in all its chaos and destruction, and nothing more.  But as Winston Churchill, who described the massacres as an “administrative holocaust,” correctly observed, “The opportunity [WWI] presented itself for clearing Turkish soil of a Christian race.”  Even Adolf Hitler had pointed out that “Turkey is taking advantage of the war in order to thoroughly liquidate its internal foes, i.e., the indigenous Christians, without being thereby disturbed by foreign intervention.”

It’s worth noting that little has changed; in the context of war in Iraq, Syria, and Libya, the first to be targeted for genocide have been Christians and other minorities.

But even the most cited factor of the Armenian Genocide, “ethnic identity conflict,” while legitimate, must be understood in light of the fact that, historically, religion accounted more for a person’s identity than language or heritage.   This is daily demonstrated throughout the Islamic world today, where Muslim governments and Muslim mobs persecute Christian minorities who share the same race, ethnicity, language, and culture; minorities who are indistinguishable from the majority—except, of course, for being non-Muslims, or “infidels.”

As one Armenian studies professor asks, “If it [the Armenian Genocide] was a feud between Turks and Armenians, what explains the genocide carried out by Turkey against the Christian Assyrians at the same time?”

Indeed, according to a 2017 book, Year of the Sword: The Assyrian Christian Genocide:

[The] policy of ethnic cleansing was stirred up by pan-Islamism and religious fanaticism.  Christians were considered infidels ( kafir).  The call to Jihad, decreed on 29 November 1914 and instigated and orchestrated for political ends, was part of the plan” to “combine and sweep over the lands of Christians and to exterminate them.”   As with the Armenians, eyewitness accounts tell of the sadistic eye-gouging of Assyrians and the gang rape of their children on church altars. According to key documents, all this was part of “an Ottoman plan to exterminate Turkey’s Christians.

To understand how the historic genocide of Armenians and Assyrians is representative of the modern-day plight of Christians under Islam, one need only read the following words written in 1918 by President Theodore Roosevelt; however, read “Armenian” as “Christian” and “Turkish” as  “Islamic,” as supplied in brackets:

the Armenian [Christian] massacre was the greatest crime of the war, and the failure to act against Turkey [the Islamic world] is to condone it… the failure to deal radically with the Turkish [Islamic] horror means that all talk of guaranteeing the future peace of the world is mischievous nonsense.

Indeed, if we “fail to deal radically” with the “horror” currently being visited upon millions of Christians around the Islamic world—which in some areas reached genocidal proportions—we “condone it” and had better cease talking “mischievous nonsense” of a utopian world of peace and tolerance.

Put differently, silence is always the ally of those who would liquidate the “other.”  In 1915, Adolf Hitler rationalized his genocidal plans, which he implemented some three decades later, when he rhetorically asked: “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”

And who among today’s major politicians speaks—let alone does anything—about the ongoing annihilation of Christians by Muslims, most recently (but not singularly) seen in the Easter Sunday church bombings of Sri Lanka that left over 300 dead?

Mueller report contains claim Russia taped Bill Clinton having phone sex with Monica Lewinsky

Steven Nelson
April 23, 2019

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s report mentions a claim that Russians recorded President Bill Clinton having phone sex with White House intern Monica Lewinsky — but the reference was redacted from the version released to the public.

The redaction is likely to anger Republicans, because the allegation has been known since at least 2001 and the Mueller report's reference to a claim that President Trump watched prostitutes urinating in a Moscow hotel room was not struck out.

Clinton allegedly was recorded by Russia in the 1990s, allowing Russia to learn of the affair before American officials. A reference to the Clinton intercept was redacted from the Mueller report to protect “personal privacy,” but sources told the Washington Examiner that the context makes clear what was blacked out.

According to the report, Center for the National Interest President Dimitri Simes sent Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner a 2016 email with recommended talking points to counter Hillary Clinton's Russia attacks. The email referenced “a well-documented story of highly questionable connections” between Bill Clinton and Russia.

[Related: Monica Lewinsky: 'If. f--king. only' a four-page summary of the Starr Report was released]

At a meeting in New York, Simes told Kushner the details: Russia allegedly recorded President Clinton on the phone with Lewinsky, opening questions of foreign leverage over the ex-president-turned-potential first spouse.

“During the August 17 meeting, Simes provided Kushner the Clinton-related information that he had promised. Simes told Kushner that, [redacted],” the Mueller report says. “Simes claimed that he had received this information from former CIA and Reagan White House official Fritz Ermarth, who claimed to have learned it from U.S. intelligence sources, not from Russians.”

Ermarth, 78, a 25-year CIA veteran and chairman of the National Intelligence Council from 1988 to 1993, said he was concerned with the wording in the report. He said the report inaccurately suggests he mishandled classified information, when in fact he used public sourcing.

“The line in the Mueller report that says any of this was based on intelligence information is the product either of faulty remembering by Dimitri or a flawed inference … or a hostile fabrication by the Mueller people,” Ermarth said. “[The report wording] implies my misuse of intelligence or use of intelligence that is classified in this context. And that is completely false.”

Independent counsel Ken Starr's 1998 report on Clinton's affair with Lewinsky identified 17 phone sex calls in 1996 and 1997. The report says Clinton told Lewinsky "that he suspected that a foreign embassy (he did not specify which one) was tapping his telephones, and he proposed cover stories. If ever questioned, she should say that the two of them were just friends. If anyone ever asked about their phone sex, she should say that they knew their calls were being monitored all along, and the phone sex was just a put-on."

Ermarth thinks he told Simes that the Clinton-Lewinsky phone call was intercepted while the president was traveling on Air Force One, but that detail is believed to not have been conveyed to Kushner or included in the report.

The former CIA officer, who was not interviewed by Mueller, said he discussed the intercept with Simes during a trip to Washington in either 2014 or 2015. The story's omission from the Mueller report hints at a double standard for the Clintons, he said.

Mueller spokesman Peter Carr declined to comment, as did Simes. A White House spokesman and Kushner attorney Abbe Lowell did not respond to requests for comment.

The report was redacted by Justice Department leadership in cooperation with Mueller's team. There were 855 redactions, according to the Smoking Gun. Only 7% of of those redactions were justified by "personal privacy," according to an analysis by Vox. Most information was withheld because it involved grand jury deliberations or because it could harm an ongoing criminal case.

According to the report, Simes told investigators Kushner appeared to consider the phone-sex story “old news,” as news outlets had long ago reported that Russia had advanced knowledge about Lewinsky. Meanwhile, Kushner told Mueller's team he did not receive information from Simes that could be "operationalized" and doubted new negative information could be unearthed on the Clintons.

Though the report was redacted to protect the former president's privacy, it does reference an alleged sex tape featuring Trump watching prostitutes urinate in a Moscow hotel. The Mueller report says Russian businessman Giorgi Rtskhiladze texted former Trump attorney Michael Cohen that he "(s)topped flow of tapes from Russia." Rtskhiladze told Mueller's team that "he was told the tapes were fake, but he did not communicate that to Cohen."

‘Go get them Nick’: Trump backs Sandmann’s $250 million lawsuit against Washington Post

Feb 20, 2019
Calvin Freiburger

President Donald Trump has offered his moral support to Nick Sandmann, the Covington Catholic High School junior suing the Washington Post for its role in the false narrative that he and his classmates harassed an elderly Native American at the March for Life.

“‘The Washington Post ignored basic journalistic standards because it wanted to advance its well-known and easily documented biased agenda against President Donald J. Trump,’” the president Tweeted Wednesday morning. “Covington student suing WAPO. Go get them Nick. Fake News!”

Following the March, the press erupted with claims that a video showed Sandmann and his classmates harassing Nathan Phillips outside the Lincoln Memorial. But additional extended video and firsthand accounts soon revealed that Phillips was the one who waded into the group waiting for its bus and decided to beat a drum inches from Sandmann’s face while members of the Black Hebrew Israelites fringe group shouted racial taunts at the kids.

Last week, an independent investigation commissioned by the Diocese of Covington (which had initially condemned the boys) cleared them of wrongdoing, confirming the students’ explanation that they had been performing chants to drown out the Black Hebrew Israelites, and did not respond to their abuse in kind.

Many who ran with the original narrative just as quickly deleted their initial condemnations, but as some try to keep it alive, attorneys representing the students have threatened to sue numerous media figures and Phillips himself for defamation. Yesterday, attorneys representing Sandmann announced a $250 million defamation suit against the Washington Post.

“The Post rushed to lead the mainstream media to assassinate Nicholas’ character and bully him,” they argued, fanning the “flames of the social media mob into a mainstream media frenzy of false attacks and threats against Nicholas.” Sandmann “suffered substantial reputational and emotional harm,” they continued, because the left-wing newspaper saw him as “an acceptable casualty in their war against the President.”

This isn’t the first time the Trump administration has expressed solidarity with the Covington students. Trump, who famously has his own adversarial relationship with the mainstream media, also tweeted a more general jab at the media Wednesday morning.

“The Press has never been more dishonest than it is today. Stories are written that have absolutely no basis in fact,” he said. “The writers don’t even call asking for verification. They are totally out of control. Sadly, I kept many of them in business. In six years, they all go BUST!”

After El Chapo conviction, use seized $14 BILLION to build border wall?

FEBRUARY 12, 2019
MARTIN WALSH

Could El Chapo’s seized drug money be used to build the border wall?

That’s one of the questions many are asking on Tuesday following news of the former drug kingpin being found guilty on all counts.

Mexico’s most notorious drug kingpin, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury found him guilty on all 10 counts following a three month trial.

According to Breitbart, the United States has seized $14 billion from the former drug lord, which gave Sen. Ted Cruz a brilliant idea.

The Texas Republican introduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order (EL CHAPO) Act in April 2017, which calls for the use of the $14 billion seized from the cartel drug lord to be used to pay for the wall.

“Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border,” Cruz said in a statement.

“Ensuring the safety and security of Texans is one of my top priorities,” he added.

Cruz said using criminally forfeited assets from El Chapo and other Mexican cartel members and drug dealers can “offset the wall’s cost and make meaningful progress toward achieving President Trump’s stated border security objectives.”

“The U.S. Government is currently seeking the criminal forfeiture of more than $14 billion in drug proceeds and illicit profits from El Chapo, the former leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel who was recently extradited to the U.S. to face criminal prosecution for numerous alleged drug-related crimes, including conspiracy to commit murder and money laundering,” Cruz added.

Wisconsin Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner proposed similar legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives, which would use money seized from drug cartels to fund a border wall.

“This is a way to fulfill the president’s desire to have Mexico pay for the wall,” Sensenbrenner, a member of the Judiciary Committee, told the Washington Examiner. “Having the money seized from Mexican drug cartels would mean that the bad Mexicans would end up paying for the wall, and the bad Mexicans have been terrorizing the good Mexicans with crime and kidnappings and murders within Mexico itself.”…

“The [Drug Enforcement Agency] has estimated that the gross receipts of the Mexican drug trade or somewhere between $19-$29 billion a year,” he said. “We don’t have to be 100 percent efficient to get the the money we need to completely pay for the wall relatively quickly.”

El Chapo’s $14 billion would fund well over half of the proposed wall along the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico.

GREEN NEW DEAL: A DEMOCRATIC SUICIDE NOTE
Pat Buchanan says AOC's plan 'reads like it was written by the college socialists club'

PATRICK J. BUCHANAN
2-11-19

After reading an especially radical platform agreed upon by the British Labor Party, one Tory wag described it as “the longest suicide note in history.”

The phrase comes to mind on reading of the resolution calling for a Green New Deal, advanced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and endorsed by at least five of the major Democratic candidates for president.

The Green New Deal is designed to recall the halcyon days of the 1930s, when, so the story goes, FDR came to Washington to enact the historic reforms that rescued America from the Great Depression.

Only that story is more than a small myth.

The unemployment rate when FDR took the oath in 1933 was 25 percent. It never fell below 14 percent through the 1930s. In June 1938, despite huge Democratic majorities in Congress, FDR was presiding over a nation where unemployment was back up to 19 percent.

World War II and the conscription of 16 million young men gave us “full employment.” And the war’s end and demobilization saw the return of real prosperity in 1946, after FDR was dead.

Yet this Green New Deal is nothing if not ambitious.

To cope with climate change, the GND calls for a 10-year plan to meet “100 percent of the power demand of the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources.”

This appears to require a phase-out by 2030 of all carbon-emitting power plants fueled by coal and oil and their replacement by power plants fueled by wind and solar.

Will natural gas be permitted? Will nuclear power? There are 60 commercially operating nuclear power plants with 98 nuclear reactors in 30 states. Will they be shut down? Will the greens agree to dam up more U.S. rivers to produce renewable hydroelectric power?

Air travel consumes huge quantities of carbon-producing jet fuel. What will replace it? Perhaps progressive Democratic candidates will set an example by not flying, and then by voting to end production of private aircraft and to ground all corporate jets. Let the elites sail to Davos.

The GND calls for an overhaul of the “transportation systems in the United States to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector … through … clean, affordable and accessible public transportation; and high-speed rail.”

Gas-powered cars are out. How long will that train trip from D.C. to L.A. take? And if China continues its relentless rise in carbon emissions until 2030, as permitted by the Paris climate accord, while the U.S. spends itself into bankruptcy going green, where would that leave America and China at midcentury?

“By the end of the Green New Deal resolution (and accompanying fact sheet) I was laughing so hard I nearly cried,” tweeted the Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel: “If a bunch of GOPers plotted to forge a fake Democratic bill showing how bonkers the party is, they could not have done a better job. It is beautiful.”

The Green New Deal, say its authors, has as a goal “stopping current, preventing future, and repairing historic oppression of indigenous peoples, communities of color, migrant communities, deindustrialized communities, depopulated rural communities, the poor, low-income workers, the elderly, the unhoused, peoples with disabilities, and youth.”

Fifty years after the Great Society, apparently half the country consists of victims of oppression.

Who are their oppressors? Guess.

Among the endorsers of this Green New Deal is Sen. Cory Booker, who compares the battle to stop climate change to fighting the Nazis in World War II. Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren have all endorsed it. Sen. Bernie Sanders, who calls climate change “an existential threat,” was an original co-sponsor.

Nancy Pelosi has more sense. Interviewed last week, the speaker batted the Green New Deal aside: “It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive. The green dream, or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it, right?”

With her own agenda and priorities, Pelosi does not want to be dragged into having to defend a document that reads like it was written by the college socialists club.

The question, though, is why Democrats, who, if nominated, are likely to face Donald Trump in 2020, are signing on to so radical a scheme.

In a presidential election, the “out” party candidate usually has an advantage. No record to defend. He or she can choose the terrain on which to attack the incumbent, who has a four-year record.

Rarely does an out party present a fixed and stationary target as exposed as this, as out-of the-mainstream as this, as vulnerable as this.

The only explanation for the endorsement of the Green New Deal by candidates with a prospect of winning the Democratic nomination is that they are so fearful of Ocasio-Cortez and the left for whom she speaks that they must endorse her plan.

That British Tory got it right. This thing reads like a Democratic Party suicide pact.

AWFUL. Purple Heart Triple-Amputee Brian Kolfage Undergoes Invasive TSA Groping at Tucson Airport (VIDEO)

Cristina Laila by Cristina Laila
February 9, 2019

A TSA agent groped and searched under Brian Kolfage’s hips, buttocks, groin and his half arm searching for what exactly? In addition to groping Kolfage, agents also swabbed his prosthetic legs and wheelchair for explosives.

Tucson’s metro core is extremely liberal and for open borders. Hillary Clinton won Tucson in 2016 — Trump won the outlying areas of Tucson.

Radical open borders groups such as La Raza have infected Tucson along with illegal alien invaders yet a triple-amputee veteran who served this country is groped and humiliated.

A concerned bystander caught the groping on video and told The Gateway Pundit that an observer was so disgusted by what the TSA agent was doing to Mr. Kolfage that they had to walk away due to disgust and anger at seeing a war hero subjected to such embarrassment.

The Gateway Pundit reached out to Brian Kolfage for comment after he was groped by TSA on Saturday.

Mr. Kolfage told The Gateway Pundit, “It’s unfortunate that every time I travel I get a full search and swabbed for explosives. It’s the times we live in. I understand the security concerns but it’s not TSA’s fault, it’s the policy makers in DC who have no clue what the real world is like; it’s a joke. It’s the same people who think there’s no issue at our border.”

“It’s amazing how our government is so worried about airport security with a triple amputee veteran in a wheelchair but everyday thousands of illegals are coming into our nation unchecked and killing Americans. I guess they turn a blind eye to them like they have to all the angel families,” Kolfage added

Kolfage added, “The policies of TSA are so bad, they have caused a charity to be formed for wounded vets to fly on private planes so we don’t have to deal with the full cavity searches and removing of prosthetics. That’s why I usually fly Veterans Airlift Command”  https://www.veteransairlift.org/

Brian Kolfage set up a GoFundMe page to build the border wall and it has surpassed $20 million in donations with over 350,000 donors!

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez welcomes Trump's 'socialism' jab, says he's 'scared'

CHEYENNE HASLETT
Feb 6, 2019

President Donald Trump used part of his State of the Union address Tuesday night to argue that socialism in Venezuela had brought "abject poverty and despair" and political unrest -- and then took a jab at members of Congress who align themselves with socialist policies.

"Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new the calls to adopt socialism in our country," Trump declared.

"America was founded on liberty and independence -- not government coercion, domination and control. We are born, and we will stay. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country," he said, as cameras caught shots of members of Congress who call themselves democratic socialists or advocate their ideas, including New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Republicans cheered "USA! USA! USA!" as Trump appeared to be testing what could be a new 2020 campaign theme against Democrats -- including several announced presidential candidates who back Medicare for all -- a concept some Republicans have attacked as socialism.

After the speech, Ocasio-Cortez told ABC News what the moment felt like when the president's words and all eyes seemed to turn toward her. Trump's comments, she said, stiffened her resolve to push socialist policies, such as her proposal to increase tax marginal rates on the very wealthy.

"I think it was great. I think he’s scared," Ocasio-Cortez said. "I thought it was fabulous because it shows that we've gotten under his skin. He sees that everything is closing in on him. He knows that he's losing the battle of public opinion when it comes to the substantive proposals that we're advancing to the public."

"And frankly he has no substantive proposals to counter, he has no vision for this country. Everything is about what he doesn't want, everything is about the bogeyman," Ocasio-Cortez added.

Though socialism was long seen as a dirty word in American politics, it was reclaimed by Sanders, I-Vermont, in the 2016 presidential election -- in which he ran as a Democrat. The term is now more openly embraced by younger Americans and a frequent talking point for some top names recently elected to the Democratic Party.

Ocasio-Cortez and Michigan Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, both newly-elected members of the House, are both members of the Democratic Socialists of America, a group that's not a formal political party but believes in socialism over capitalism.

Sanders is not a member of the group but considers himself a "democratic socialist."
