Boston's Straight Pride Parade

While we're on the topic, is there a particular reason why this board isn't titled "Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Issues". You've always come across as an inclusive and tolerant type. Why the exclusivity here?

Only 6% of Americans Agree With Democrats That Abortions Should be Allowed Up to Birth

More than 50 percent of Americans also want the U.S. Supreme Court to reconsider Roe, which forced states to allow abortions for basically any reason up to birth.

Asked about the infamous abortion ruling, 18 percent said they want it overturned altogether, while 36 percent said the Supreme Court should modify the ruling. In contrast, 46 percent said the high court should uphold the ruling, according to the poll.

The Daily Wire commented on the poll:

Pope (sic) Francis sounds racism alarm as EU nationalists win big

MAY 27, 2019

VATICAN CITY (AFP) - Pope Francis warned on Monday (May 27) against a rise of intolerance and racism as far-right nationalists and eurosceptic parties made historic gains in European elections.

"The signs of meanness we see around us heighten our fear of 'the other', the unknown, the marginalised, the foreigner," he said in a message for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees.

"It is not just about them, but about all of us, and about the present and future of the human family.

"Migrants, especially those who are most vulnerable, help us to read the 'signs of the times'," he said.

Nationalist forces from Marine Le Pen in France to Matteo Salvini in Italy and Nigel Farage in Britain boasted significant gains in the EU Parliament elections which wound up on Sunday.

Salvini's far-right League party did particularly well in Italy in centres seen as migrant "hot spots", including a town held up by the left as a model of tolerance and integration.

Pope Francis acknowledged the "fear" in many societies towards migrants and refugees arriving in search of protection or a better future.

"To some extent, the fear is legitimate, also because the preparation for this encounter is lacking," he said, alluding to often piecemeal and inadequate approaches to refugee integration.

"But the problem is not that we have doubts and fears. The problem is when they condition our way of thinking and acting to the point of making us intolerant, closed and perhaps even - without realising it - racist," he added.

"Today's world is increasingly becoming more elitist and cruel towards the excluded," the Argentinian said in his message titled "It is not just about migrants".

"Wars only affect some regions of the world, yet weapons of war are produced and sold in other regions which are then unwilling to take in the refugees produced by these conflicts," he added.

The next World Day of Migrants and Refugees is not until Sept 29, but the Vatican sends out papal messages on such subjects well in advance to provide guidance to pastors around the world.

CNN lays off 300 employees as ratings plummet

CNN is jettisoning 300 employees as viewership plummets following the Mueller report's debunking of their Trump collusion narrative they pushed for more than two years.

Once a leader in cable news, CNN made the announcement to cut jobs on Monday in light of last month's 26% decline in CNN's viewership as tracked by Nielsen Media Research. The drastic decline in ratings comes on the heels of revelations that the Left's narrative of Trump colluding with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election proved to be a fake.

Often called fake news by President Donald Trump, CNN is reportedly dismissing 200 employees and offering early retirement to 100 other senior staffers. CNN now trails behind MSNBC which also pushed the Russian collusion story and also experienced a 14% decline in viewership.

MSNBC is also being called out even by leftist media for pushing the collusion story. The Daily Beast reported in March that one of MSNBC's leading pundits, Rachel Maddow, saw her viewership fall by nearly 500,000 in one week following the release of the Mueller report. Maddow had consistently "vied for the first or second top-rated cable news program," reported The Daily Beast, but fell to sixth place following the release of the report.

Left-leaning pundit Jimmy Dore slammed Maddow on his show for her obsession with the Trump collusion narrative.

Following a clip of Maddow asking what the release of the Mueller report means, Dore responded, "Well, what it means is that you're a propagandist conspiracy theorist of the highest order and you wrecked your news show because you hate Donald Trump so much that now nobody could ever take what you say seriously."

I just want everyone to know that I'm taking a few weeks off after tonight. To be clear - I'm not going anywhere. I'm simply taking a break. I'll be back near the end of April. Hopefully you'll all still be around when I get back (and Pepsi will have turned the snow off).

Some of you here from time to time mention other forums you visit. I wonder if you'd mind givin' me a link to some of those places. Don't get me wrong. I'm not lookin' to get out of here. This place is pretty much my home base at this point. It's just that I have so much common ground with those left here that I can't get the mental stimulation I crave. There must be a forum with some sane liberals on it that are capable of carrying on a conversation without havin' a meltdown. I promise that if you just give me a link I'll keep it entirely confidential. No one will have to know that you let me in.

Thank you.
