Not really the classic can. This one is aluminum with the tapered ends. I have a steel one with the pull tab which was replaced with the pop-top. The pop top remains on the can, whereas the pull tabs were fast becoming a litter problem.  Prior to the pull tab one needed a can opener.

An early pull-tab model:

A can opener model:

And the even more historic bottle cap variety:

I wonder what they considered a glass full at that time?   I can't see ounces on the can.

--I wondered the same thing. I'm guessing that they're 16 oz, a making two 8 oz. 'glasses'.  Wouldn't meet today's standards.

Our glass servings have gotten bigger over time.  I bet they may have considered a glass 5 or 6 ounces.

did you know that a cup at 8 ounces is not universal?

One reason for the discrepancy is that many parts of the world go by the metric system. This means that a cup equals 250 milliliters, which comes to about 8.45 fluid ounces. However, in Japan a cup equals 200 milliliters (6.7 ounces) and in Canada it equals 227 milliliters (which is 7.6 ounces).

You can see how it gets confusing.

Then there’s the fact that we refer to too many things as a cup. There’s the literal cup we put liquid in ― like coffee. There’s the measurement the cup, which in the U.S. refers to 8 ounces. Then there’s the coffee maker manufacturers cup, which can vary in measurement from 4 to 6 ounces.
