So then you've answered your own question.

Q. Is there more than one [Bible]?
A. Yes.

There you go again, using deduction.  You are going to make his head hurt.

No appropriate qualifications were needed Mornac, your claims that there is, "one Bible" and that Hence the only answer to [my] question is “The Bible” were, as you have since admitted, incorrect.

As I had already said, There are many bibles and each have many versions and none of them provide proof of anything. In other words, Mornac. There is no proof that your bible is any more or any less valid than anybody else's bible. So, as I also pointed out to you, it all comes down to a question of faith; that you can no more demonstrably prove that yours is The One True Bible than you can demonstrably prove that yours is The One True Faith ... nor that your One True God even exists - no matter how hard you might circuitously argue to the contrary.

A. Yes, but only if yes means the same as no.

Q. Mornac, why do you think 98% of Catholics are acting contrary to Catholic teaching?
A. Crickets

Q. What about you, Mornac? Have you ever acted contrary to Catholic teaching and used contraception?
A. While I was a Catholic, the answer is no.

It is my opinion that the only way one can "receive" the Word of God is through the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, even if you were reading an old issue of The Green Lantern and the Word of God was "given" to you through that medium, it would still be the Word of God.

The Bible can be written in crayola by a four year old, and as long as you are in touch with the Holy Spirit, you will receive the truth.

That's what I believe anyways.

Green Lantern?  A group you could wipe out with one # 2 yellow pencil (the wood would take care of Alan Scott; the yellow would take care of the rest.

Green Lantern?
Depends who you ask and which book you read.

It's not a problem for me, Mornac. I'm not the one having to continually adjust my language in a vain attempt to keep my story straight ... that would be you.

What point were you hoping to make when you started this thread?

Don't get me wrong, i am a fan.  In fact, old school Alan Scott fan, but, let's face it, it is a pretty glaring weakness.

Can't say I'm really up on any superhero stories. I just notice that, over time, they all change. I assume it's to attract a wider audience.

Can't say I'm really up on any superhero stories. I just notice that, over time, they all change. I assume it's to attract a wider audience.

A lot of things in comics have changed since the early '60s, when I first became aware of them. Most comics then, and all the superhero ones, were aimed at about a nine-year-old audience; the stories were simple (to the point of being simple-minded, in many cases), the dialogue would have embarrassed any self-respecting soap opera writer, and most of the artwork was crude, by today's standards, despite the presence and example of giants like Wood, Kane, Hogarth, Fine, Toth, Eisner, and others. I was talking yesterday with a college professor who works part-time at a comic store, mostly because he loves comics and, after fifty or so years of reading and collecting them, he has an encylopedic knowledge of them, as well. I was looking at some old T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents issues from the '60s, and we were reminiscing about how simple and straightforward the stories were then - good guys and bad guys beating up on each other, and that was pretty much it. D.C. Comics is currently doing a T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents series, and it's this horrendous, Chaykin-esque series of conspiracies and hidden agendas and corruption in high places...it's enough to make me seriously miss just putting down my twelve cents and forgetting about the real world and its problems for fifteen minutes.

It's interesting how the things we were exposed to in our formative years are now the exact same things everyone with something to sell us is attempting to tap into. So what are we to make of ever more complex narratives in a medium which was originally intended as, for want of a better term, children's literature?

It seems escapism ain't what it used to be.

Prove it.

--There are three assertions there:

1) You’re the one who keeps complaining that I cannot “demonstrably prove” things when I didn’t come here to do that.

2) That’s not my problem

3)  it’s yours.

You’re going to have to specify which one you’d like me to prove.
