Mitt Romney who raked in millions and millions of $$ last year without working a single day paid just 13.9% of it to the Federal government in taxes.  Meanwhile some over-the-road trucker making 39K a year who can barely stay awake at the wheel and gets to see his wife 3 days a months pays 25% of his hard earned sweat in taxes.
And you dumb wankers applaud this and want more of this to continue while Romney laughs behind your backs and placed $10,000 bets for entertainment.  Even Warren Buffett and Bill Gates say they should be paying more in taxes.  You'll vote and cheer as T Bagger loonies take away your social security and you'll have everything you asked for when you no longer can afford or be accepted for health insurance due to a prior injury or illness.  And Medicare will be gone and you'll smile.  Because you'll be free to do it all on your own without any gov'ment interference.  And when you eventually need that 100,000/year for your nursing home, you'll have it because Mitt Romney showed you the way.  And Mornac showed you way.  Get on your knees and weep to the hospital billing office and plead hardship and get them to knock your bills down.

Isn't that, like, The American Dream?

Even Warren Buffett and Bill Gates say they should be paying more in taxes.

Is there something preventing them from paying more in taxes?  Would the Feds, like, return the check saying "Oh, no.  This is too much.  We cannot accept this"?

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he wants to make sure millionaires are taxed at higher rates than their secretaries. The data say they already are.
"Warren Buffett's secretary shouldn't pay a higher tax rate than Warren Buffett. There is no justification for it," Obama said as he announced his deficit-reduction plan this week. "It is wrong that in the United States of America, a teacher or a nurse or a construction worker who earns $50,000 should pay higher tax rates than somebody pulling in $50 million."
On average, the wealthiest people in America pay a lot more taxes than the middle class or the poor, according to private and government data. They pay at a higher rate, and as a group, they contribute a much larger share of the overall taxes collected by the federal government.
The 10 percent of households with the highest incomes pay more than half of all federal taxes. They pay more than 70 percent of federal income taxes, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
In his White House address on Monday, Obama called on Congress to increase taxes by $1.5 trillion as part of a 10-year deficit reduction package totaling more than $3 trillion. He proposed that Congress overhaul the tax code and impose what he called the "Buffett rule," named for the billionaire investor.
The rule says, "People making more than $1 million a year should not pay a smaller share of their income in taxes than middle-class families pay." Buffett wrote in a recent piece for The New York Times that the tax rate he paid last year was lower than that paid by any of the other 20 people in his office.
"Middle-class families shouldn't pay higher taxes than millionaires and billionaires," Obama said. "That's pretty straightforward. It's hard to argue against that."
There may be individual millionaires who pay taxes at rates lower than middle-income workers. In 2009, 1,470 households filed tax returns with incomes above $1 million yet paid no federal income tax, according to the Internal Revenue Service. But that's less than 1 percent of the nearly 237,000 returns with incomes above $1 million.
This year, households making more than $1 million will pay an average of 29.1 percent of their income in federal taxes, including income taxes, payroll taxes and other taxes, according to the Tax Policy Center, a Washington think tank.
Households making between $50,000 and $75,000 will pay an average of 15 percent of their income in federal taxes.
Lower-income households will pay less. For example, households making between $40,000 and $50,000 will pay an average of 12.5 percent of their income in federal taxes. Households making between $20,000 and $30,000 will pay 5.7 percent.
The latest IRS figures are a few years older — and limited to federal income taxes — but show much the same thing. In 2009, taxpayers who made $1 million or more paid on average 24.4 percent of their income in federal income taxes, according to the IRS.
Those making $100,000 to $125,000 paid on average 9.9 percent in federal income taxes. Those making $50,000 to $60,000 paid an average of 6.3 percent.
Obama's claim hinges on the fact that, for high-income families and individuals, investment income is often taxed at a lower rate than wages. The top tax rate for dividends and capital gains is 15 percent. The top marginal tax rate for wages is 35 percent, though that is reserved for taxable income above $379,150.
With tax rates that high, why do so many people pay at lower rates? Because the tax code is riddled with more than $1 trillion in deductions, exemptions and credits, and they benefit people at every income level, according to data from the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation, Congress' official scorekeeper on revenue issues.
The Tax Policy Center estimates that 46 percent of households, mostly low- and medium-income households, will pay no federal income taxes this year. Most, however, will pay other taxes, including Social Security payroll taxes.
"People who are doing quite well and worry about low-income people not paying any taxes bemoan the fact that they get so many tax breaks that they are zeroed out," said Roberton Williams, a senior fellow at the Tax Policy Center. "People at the bottom of the distribution say, 'But all of those rich guys are getting bigger tax breaks than we're getting,' which is also the case."
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was pressed at a White House briefing on the number of millionaires who pay taxes at a lower rate than middle-income families. He demurred, saying that people who make most of their money in wages pay taxes at a higher rate, while those who get most of their income from investments pay at lower rates.
"So it really depends on what is your profession, where's the source of your income, what's the specific circumstances you face, and the averages won't really capture that," Geithner said.

'Tax Me More Fund' raises little revenue - - The Washington Times, America's Newspaper
The Washington Times on the fate of Virginia's "Tax me more" fund:

RICHMOND — State lawmakers can rule out Virginian's offering up more of their hard-earned money to fix the $1.4 billion budget shortfall Gov. Tim Kaine announced this week.

At least that is what a peek at the so-called "Tax Me More Fund" suggests.

Since its inception in 2002, the fund has collected a total of $10,217.04.

This is what economists call "revealed preference". What most of us are really in favor of is higher taxes on other people. If we wanted higher taxes on ourselves, we'd give the money to charity.

perhaps if that poor 39k enslaved trucker had chosen to become a corporate raiding hedge fund managing ex governor and future President, he would have more time to spend with his wife and a along the way be able to singlehandedly pay more taxes than 10 interstates full of cb yappin pill popping good ole boy truckem-uppers.

what amazes me is that the most powerful (arguably) union in the fucking world, the Longshormens, would allow their members to be paid LESS, than a Toyota factory worker in a Right to Work state......

maybe it's the Mafia union boss fees........

"So, you have abandoned Newton Leroy?"

nope, just watching the ebb and flow show that the man who would be the best President will likely get less delegate votes than the man who will still be a 10 fold improvement over the impotent, incompetent cretin currently living in my White House

you still supporting the socialist that you are ashamed to name?  Adolf Marx?  Karl Dingleberry?  Rumplestiltskin?

I don't blame you in your cowardice, some choices are just to funny to commit to archive

i do not vote for the individual, i vote for the platform.  i told i am voting for a socialist, i am not sure how you could be confused about that (except that you do not know what a socialist is).

Why in the world would you call me a Christian conservative?  i have never claimed to be a conservative?  This is the second time you have done this.

"i am just amused that you move from person to person depending on who will win the spot to lose in november." -hp

and the rest of us are amused that you hide behind a phony platitude and don't even have the guts or googleability to come up with a name  LOL

"i am not supporting any particular person, i am waiting to evaluate platforms."

LOL, you need to evaluate a socialist platform......do the throngs battling for the nomination have platforms?

LOL, thanks sucker, once again, you made my day!

and fyi, I haven't given up on Newt and if he's still punching when my primies come around I will vote for him regardless of the odds against and more importantly I will support whoever wins the nod because the cancer with the shit eating grin in my White House has to go.

you seem to confuse facing reality on a forum with changing horses.

I liked Cain up until he kamikazeed himself with the 9-9-9 recipe for inspiring endangered freeloading idiots to flood the obama box.  an excellent plan btw but scaring the shit out of half the nation, the non tax paying moochbag half will never fly .....in an election year.  the dumb sob shoulda shut up, won and powerfucked it through like obamacarescam.

I like Dr Paul but his slash and burn approach is no different than Cain's........won't fly with parasites like you.
