WASHINGTON — Fewer people bought new homes in December. The decline made 2011 the worst year for new -homes sales on records dating back nearly half a century.

The Commerce Department said Thursday new-home sales fell 2.2 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual pace of 307,000. The pace is less than half the 700,000 that economists say must be sold in a healthy economy.

About 302,000 new homes were sold last year. That’s less than the 323,000 sold in 2010, making last year’s sales the worst on records dating back to 1963. And it coincides with a report last week that said 2011 was the weakest year for single-family home construction on record.

Okey doke.  Now when all the moratoriums and extensions expire, right around June 2012, that is when The Shit is going to hit the proverbial fan, boys.  There are currently on record about 5 Million homeowners...er occupiers that are hanging on by the tips of their fingernails.

Why would anyone buy houses after what happened in 2007?  What have banks done to make us trust them?

Then builders need to stop building or drop their prices.

A. Yes, but only if yes means the same as no.

Q. Mornac, why do you think 98% of Catholics are acting contrary to Catholic teaching?
A. Crickets

Q. What about you, Mornac? Have you ever acted contrary to Catholic teaching and used contraception?
A. While I was a Catholic, the answer is no.

Builders have stopped building, and actually the 2012 predictions are that there may actually be a bottom this year and prices may actually go up.

This is what happens with "conservative" policies: bubbles and crashes. It was predictable. I predicted it when I said over and over that the current conditions created under Bush were unsustainable. Did any one of these "conservatives" listen?

No. They didn't.

Well I do think that GM has become the number 1 automaker on earth again. But hey, lets not let facts stand in the way of another mindless repetition of conservative propaganda.
