Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul’s press secretary Moira Bagley tweeted on Monday that Transportation Security Administration officials were detaining her boss in Nashville, Tenn.

“Just got a call from @senrandpaul,” Bagley tweeted at about 10 a.m. on Monday. “He’s currently being detained by TSA in Nashville.”

Bagley hasn’t immediately responded to The Daily Caller’s request for comment for more details.

Texas Congressman and current Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul – Sen. Rand Paul’s father – placed a post on Facebook about the news as well. “My son Rand is currently being detained by the TSA at the Nashville Airport,” Ron Paul posted. “I’ll share more details as the situation unfolds.”

Sen. Rand Paul’s Facebook page has a post about the incident too. “Senator Paul is being detained at the Nashville Airport by the TSA,” Sen. Rand Paul’s Facebook post reads. “We will update you as the situation develops.”

Probably because of the terrorist-tendencies of his father I bet.

Maybe the TSA started doing the "profiling" Rand is a supporter of, and he fit into one of the profiles.. if so, cool!

Probably not one of the best ideas TSA has ever had since Rand Paul is one of the most conservative members of Congress and has many times expressed his unhappiness with searches.

The TSA is huge joke. Detaining a U.S. Senator is no sillier - and, in some ways, less silly - than frisking three-year-olds or confiscating breast milk.

We all go to the airport, we abide by the rules.  If we do not like the rules we work to change them.  i am not sure what the problem is.  i understand that you want what you want and you want it now, but rules take time to change.

Also, he was not detained.  This means he was not taken into custody.  He was not allowed to board his plane because he refused a targeted pat down.  If he does not want to follow the rules he should not fly until the rules are changed.

Its silly until the terrorist figure out that if they hide the bomb on the 3 year old, or disguise the explosives as breast milk, etc.   In other words, considering the sophistication shown on 911, if they make exceptions for "all people" or "all liquid" rules why would dedicated terrorists not try to sneak past the checks using the exceptions?

Some people are special and rules don't apply to them, don't you know?

Well, if you are correct, then the proper approach is to work to change the law.  That is what it means to be a citizen in a republic.

You should tell that to the TSA agents next time you're trying to board a flight.   I'll be flying tomorrow myself, flying from the same airport the flight pictured below took off from.   I'm going to abide by the rules the experts have put in place to try to keep me safe.
