it sounds like a silly poll in a day and age when we have to expose our internal organs for inspection to fly to Cincinnati, but, it's still being "debated" by some

I voted yes, btw

Yup.

What amuses me about this is of all the things Democrats firmly believe Republicans are capable of, advocating the starvation and death of women children seniors and poor people in general, covering up for and defending corporations that would, if unrestrained, deliberately and knowing delivering unsafe products and services to the public etc etc.

For some strange reason, as evil as Democrats assume Republicans are, no one seems concerned that the Republicans will commit voter fraud.  So, of course we don't need to concern ourselves with protections against it.

Works out kinda nice don't it?  Wink

Most documented voter fraud and suppression by Republicans has come in the form of fake robocalls to selected districts and neighborhoods, directing voters to go to fictitious polling stations, or just to stay home - that sort of thing.

http://bradblog.com/?p=8577

However, the old "dead man voting" standby is, so to speak, alive and well, as some recent events in Wisconsin, involving the recall of Democratic politicians, demonstrate.

No one thinks that pro-Republican operatives and dirty trick specialists do not exist - only that their aims and methods have, for the most part, nothing to do with a physical body showing up on election day pretending to be someone else. Nothing so small and unambitious.

Republicans know that efforts to push voter ID legislation distracts attention away from the real problem - the hacking and "fixing" of touch-screen voter machines.

http://www.flcv.com/fraudpat.html

Despite that, I'm in agreement with them that requiring a photo ID to vote is reasonable, even if one would have to be blind, deaf and stone stupid not to suspect the motives of some in taking that position. I think it is telling that Republicans are not requiring photo IDs to vote in the Iowa caucus, despite their complete control over the rules.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/brad-friedman/republicans-require-no-ph_b_1173283.html

Apparently the "inconvenience" factor only exists at certain times and places.

I don't get why Iowa is so "important."  They haven't called a President in the last 50 years.

The entire primary/caucus process is a huge waste of taxpayer money, to the extent that it is publicly funded. Let the R's and the D's figure out who they're going to run the way the smaller parties do.

I wouldn't get too excited; the thread only started about fifteen hours ago.

Brad Friedman?

Seriously?

The guy teamed up with a convicted domestic terrorist, drug runner and serial liar (Speedway Bomber) to create velvetrevolution.us?

I can't think of anyone with less credibility.
