Government Says It Can Assassinate or Indefinitely Detain Americans on American Soil Without Any Due Process of Law

I’ve previously noted that Obama says that he can assassinate American citizens living on U.S. soil.

This admittedly sounds over-the-top.  But one of the nation’s top constitutional and military law experts – Jonathan Turley – agrees.

Turley:

    Is the second most cited law professor in the country

    Has worked as both the CBS and NBC legal analyst during national controversies

    Ranks 38th in the top 100 most cited ‘public intellectuals’ in a recent study by a well-known judge

    Is one of the top 10 lawyers handling military cases

    Has served as a consultant on homeland security and constitutional issues

    Is a frequent witness before the House and Senate on constitutional and statutory issues

Turley said yesterday on C-Span (starting at 15:50):

    President Obama has just stated a policy that he can have any American citizen killed without any charge, without any review, except his own. If he’s satisfied that you are a terrorist, he says that he can kill you anywhere in the world including in the United States.

    Two of his aides just … reaffirmed they believe that American citizens can be killed on the order of the President anywhere including the United States.

    You’ve now got a president who says that he can kill you on his own discretion. He can jail you indefinitely on his own discretion

This is but one of the lingering problems caused by the Bush crime family.

We're out of Iraq and it's about to revert back, as was inevitable. We have removed the major check against Iran, which was Saddam Hussein. The idea that these countries would fall in line and become new U.S. states was pure stupidity and folly. We have succeeded only in creating more chaos in the Middle East and we've paid trillions of dollars, after we add it all up.

We've also paid a huge price with respect to our civil liberties and it will take many years to undo all of this. It's not going to happen over night. Sorry, but it just doesn't work that way.

I was in the AF at Offutt AFB, which was SAC headquarters, and it was good duty.  Omaha was close by with lots girls wanting to mingle, or tangle I should say.  I worked on the  flying command posts, which were modified KC-135 tankers. That must be a tough airframe like the buffies are because the KCs are still being used.  It was similar to a 707 but maybe a little shorter.

What amazes me is the great variety of ordnance the old buffie can carry.  Dumb bombs, smart bombs, cruise missiles, and on and on.  It is like an old lover said to me, it ain't fast but it is thorough.     They need to modify buffie so it can carry daisy cutters.  Talk about slum clearance and roach control, you got it with a daisy cutter laying a square mile to waste.

I worked on the island of Guam for about 90 days duriing the Nam war, and at night a fleet of around 50 buffies would take of on a run.  It was like a strong wind blowing until they all got off.  And then the next afternoon there would be a dark cloud of smoke in the west, and the big  birds were coming home, those that survived the SAMs.  

If you really want to hurt an enemy then load the bomb racks with liberals, and then bombs away. They'll never get over it, like the Ruskies have never gotten over it.

Getting back to the thread topic, hopefully a president would exercise this authority with extreme caution and with rock solid reasons for doing so.
Something tells me the situation would be handled by boots in the field and we would never hear the real truth of the matter.

The moral is, don't fuck with Uncle Sam.
