An act of war ignored or the flexing of muscle that provoked NK to violence?

NK seems to have a phobia about us attacking them, just as Russia did.

Maybe we need to stop playing sucker in the ME and pool our resources in case we need to put N. Korea back in its shell.  S. Korea is a lot more good to us than the raghead countries and seems to appreciate our efforts on their behalf.  Either that or they too are playing us for a big spending sucker.

It seems that S. Korea has become an economic powerhouse.  Good for them. That is the kind of payback we need from other countries we have tried to help.

"North Korea had then admitted launching the attack after warning the South not to carry out live-fire drills in the disputed waters dividing the two Koreas.
South Korea held ceremonies and military drills to mark the anniversary and vowed to “never compromise” on attacks by North Korea."

I wonder if South Korea would be so bold if the US wasn't backing them up? ........... Could you imagine what the US would do if China took over Florida Shocked .........Florida is to the US......is like Korea is to China.....yet they allow us to continue to meddle in their circle of influence.........for how much longer?  Huh?

The single biggest factor that has prevented South Korea from invading the North is the United States.

Yes, they would be so bold.

That sounds a bit isolationist of you dusty, and that is your privilege.  One needs to realize that the Korean Peninsula is relatively close to Japan, so the last thing we need is a takeover of S. Korea by the communists.  We fought that war once and I hope we don't have to do it again.  However, if N. Korea should garner the support of mainland China or Russia like it did the last time we will be in for a rough time of it because those countries have much more sophisticaged weaponsry than they did back then.

Add to the fact that China is an economic power house and we have become a bunch of international beggars, so it is a good idea to help S. Korea help itself.  I wish we could come home and stay home but life just isn't that simple for us in this dog eat dog world.

What is "isolationist" about my post? Huh? China and Korea share a land border, whereas Japan is separated by water.....

What I asked is how we would feel if China occupied Florida?  Florida is to the US as Korea is to China.....bordered by land........besides China probably owns more land than Florida if they call our loans due.....

Japan would be vulnerable if N. Korea were to take S. Korea.  Your isolationism comes from an apparent reluctance for the US to back S. Korea.  We have a hell of  a lot more by helping S. Korea than we do Israel.

It is all in where you want to spend your dime.

Where did I say I didn't support backing South Korea? Maybe South Korea was on of the 57 states Obama was alluding to he visited?
So in your opinion the US is backing South Korea for what the US can get out of them Huh?  I thought it was to block the spread of Communism...... Roll Eyes

The practical reason for blocking the spread of communism is to keep free trade alive.  A more noble reason is to maintain freedom for people. Both are important.

Isn't it about time we got some payback, or are we the planet suckers whose only role is to fight and bleed for humanity?  If that is the case we had better start winning one once in a while.  Economic considerations is usually a factor in any major conflict, just follow the money trail.
