The economy would have been in much worse shape without the 2009 stimulus — which increased employment in the third quarter of this year by as many as 3.3 million full-time jobs, according to a report by the Congressional Budget Office.

Republican lawmakers and presidential candidates have blasted the $800 billion pumped into the economy through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act as a waste of taxpayer dollars that failed to put people back to work.

The nonpartisan CBO figures offer a more nuanced picture of how government spending impacted an economy still coping with unemployment above 9 percent. It provides an alternative glimpse of an economy with even higher unemployment and drastically lower growth.

The CBO figures released Tuesday estimate that the stimulus package raised the gross domestic product this past quarter by 0.3 percent-1.9 percent.

The CBO report provided a broad range of the estimated number of full-time jobs created because of the stimulus — from a low of 500,000 to a high of 3.3 million jobs.

Previous estimates indicated that the stimulus funded more than 400,000 full-time jobs in the third quarter, but the CBO said in its report that the figure was not a “comprehensive” look at the law’s impact.

The effects of the stimulus are fading after having peaked in the first half of 2010, the report noted.

However, the CBO estimates that the stimulus will raise GDP by 0.1 percent to 0.8 percent next year and employment by 200,000 to 1.1 million jobs.

Speculation, conjecture and pure guessing.  Objection.  Not calculated to lead to the discovery of any admissible evidence.  Unintelligible.  Vague.  Irrelevant.

Motion to strike on the grounds of absurd.

LOS ANGELES, November 15, 2011—The President keeps attacking his own citizens, confusing them with royal subjects.

Barack Obama, while golfing for the fifth time this week, recently referred to Americans as “soft.” This week he referred to Americans as “lazy.”

There is only one curseword strong enough to correctly identify and condemn someone who rocketed to the Presidency despite not having created anything of importance. There is only one epithet harsh enough to verbally smack down a man who says nothing, does even less, and blames everybody else for his own failures.

There is only one pejorative for a man who alternates between condescension and smugness while needing Valerie Jarrett to tie his shoes for him.

There is only one insult for a man who lectures businesses about hiring while having never run a business.

There is only one rebuke for a man who lashes out at a “do-nothing congress” while his own party fails to pass a budget for one thousand days.

There is only one thing left to say about a man who is able to hold himself in the highest of regard without having a clue about the simplest aspects of life.

President Obama, you are a Frenchman.

It's really funny that "conservatives" are criticizing President Obama for not going to Congress. Of course Republicans have announced that if President Obama went to them and had his finger prints on anything the do nothing would make his efforts dead on arrival because they don't want President Obama to get any credit for anything.

And of course "conservatives" are traitors who want only to undermine our nation's economy for their own political gain.

But even beyond that President Obama is really smart to avoid Congress. After all Congress' current approval ratings aren't. No one is more politically toxic than Congress. No one.

And this is the achievement of Republicans. This is what they have done since being elected in 2010. They have made themselves toxic.

Yes, you "conservatives" have a brilliant future.

ROTFLMAO.

Hey!  Who needs Congress?  He's already announced twice that he is going to do an end-run around Congress to get the job done without them.

Not sure if he has the authority or the ability to do that, but it was a great talking point.

It would be nice if the traitorous "conservative" bastards would honor their vows to uphold the Constitution rather than a pledge to a nobody like Grover Norquist. But no. It would be nice if your stupid "conservatives" did their jobs and represented WE, THE PEOPLE.

Well, shit the bed!

I'm almost sure, but I could be wrong, that the Republicans have allowed the release of nearly $4 Trillion to The Messiah?

If he can't get anything off the ground with that wad 'o cash, he's worse than incompetent.  He's inept.

Actually that's not true for all kinds of reasons. It's just more of your propaganda.

In the meantime your Rasmussen has Obama over Romney 44 to 38!

Obama doesn't do as well against a "generic Republican" so now all you need to do is to find one of those, eh?

It's a pity you've all gone off the deep end.

So, you're just sticking to plain-old incompetent, then?

I'm sticking with legitimate scholarly mainstream sources and, as usual, laughing my ass off at how stupid you "conservatives" are. I mean I may as well laugh at your stupidity because none of you are interested in the truth. None of you are the least bit curious or inquisitive.

You're just drunk on your ideology and you think you're going to somehow "win" something.

You're really not even interested in the debt except to the extent you can somehow manage to use it as one of your wedge issues. None of your other wedge issues are working very well, but when the smoke clears this one isn't going to fare any better.

Actually it was more like 16 trillion that was paid out....you would think if they have that kind of money on the ole "printing press", some of that could be used domestically...not just given to foreign banks and corporations...

It's clear that Republicans are the problem. It could not be more clear that Republicans are the problem. We know how to deal with current conditions and without Republican obstructionist problems we would be in a much better economy right now.

The cognitive dissonance on this issue is appalling and Lucy here has no clue. Of course neither do you. The answers are actually quite simple.
