Has anyone noticed how the war mongers in WDC have to consult with China and Russia on foreign policy matters?  In this case China and Russia will say nyet in the Security Council resolutions to further sanction Iran.  Maybe they are trying to tell us something how the sacred cow of the ME is being received
by the world community?

Obama vows new bid to thwart Iran nuclear effort

The president says he will consult with China and Russia

KAPOLEI, Hawaii — President Barack Obama says sanctions on Iran are having "enormous bite," but he still wants to work with Russia and China to find more ways of putting pressure on Tehran to halt its nuclear program.

"We will be consulting with them carefully over the next several weeks to look at what other options we have available to us," Obama said at a press conference after the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit where he met with the leaders of the two nations.

Obama said his strong preference was to resolve the Iran issue diplomatically, but he added: "We are not taking any options off the table. Iran with nuclear weapons would pose a threat not only to the region but also to the United States."

Story: Israel says Iran closer to atom bomb than thought

At the summit, Obama met with Russian and Chinese leaders to discuss a new report from the U.N. watchdog agency that included evidence Iran's program is working on research and design efforts to develop a nuclear bomb.

Obama said Russia and China share America's goal of making sure Iran doesn't build the bomb. But both countries have said they oppose new sanctions.

A report Friday from the International Atomic Energy Agency provided new evidence that Iran's nuclear program includes clandestine efforts to build a bomb. The report, circulated among the U.N. watchdog agency's member countries, includes satellite images, letters, diagrams and other documents. It alleges Iran has been working to acquire equipment and weapons design information, testing high explosives and detonators and developing compute models of a warhead's core. Taken together, it's the most unequivocal evidence yet that the Iranian program ranges far beyond enriching uranium for use in energy and medical research, which is what Tehran says it's for.

US sanctions won't have much bite if Russia and China do not adopt the same sanctions.   The US has never been able to dictate to China or Russia what they do.  Your premise that somehow things are different now in these regards don't make a lot of sense to me.

When World War II ended we were the preeminent country because the others were broke on their asses from the war effort.  China had not developed much of a sophisticated army and was an economic basket case, thanks to the socialist elites that thought they knew best what was good for the coolies.  Russia was bankrupt, both economically and politically, so we had a heyday bullying people around.

The worm has turned and now we are playing second fiddle to China economically, and Russia is still setting our asses down in the world political arena.  Even the little countries are basically telling us to fuck off because collectively they don't have to put up with our bullying. Particularly the oil rich countries.  People just don't lay down and play dead for us anymore, and unless we can get our financial house in order we will become the planet beggars for lack of borrowed funds to piss away on social programs.

If you want to see what is in store for us if we don't wise up  then take a look at Greece and Italy. Both of these countries were once power houses and world leaders.
You libs are a little light on your history, amongst other things.

Again you got your hiastory screwed up. You need to go back and thank your hero Reagan. He's the one who raised the deficit/debt to a level  that was more than every other president of this country before him combined.

I think we need to acknowledge that there are other countries in the world who are more solvent than our own at this point...And that our endless spending and debt is not helping us as a nation really. These cause us to be weakened. The number one energy exporter right now, according to reports is Russia. That is something we need to take into account. We are growing deeper in debt while a few others are gaining in credit accounts for their own nations.

This is not a good position to be in, imho.

And spiritually we are bankrupting ourselves with our might makes right foreign policy. Yep, the little allies we won over from WW II still go along with us, but that beats them being on our hit list too.  I think a lot of our problem comes from the proactive defense policy.  It is one thing to head off a threat but quite another to go looking for trouble.

Look at what happens to little countries like Spain and England when they take part in one of our crusades.  They suffer at home with blown up trains and such  because the people we piss off are going to strike back at the weaker countries first.  Is it any wonder our once allies are questioning our motives?  They don't enjoy being our pawns.
