In principle yes, but if their religious tenets result in harm to other people or to the members of the group, or if it advocates harm to our exisiting political order,  then I think something needs to be done to challenge the threat it poses.

There have been some nutjob religious sects where the participants suffered and died at the hands of their deranged leaders, and the Jonestown Massacre and the Koresh cult in Waco come to mind.  I think a person's civil rights transcend or superecede any harmful policy of his religious tenets.

Your implication in the title that secularists have no scruples is wrong headed Mornac as more wars have been fought over despotic religious beliefs than anything else.  Religious tenets in regards to behavior are for the most part the result of centuries of mortals living together in a civilized manner, so religion
does not have a monopoly on standards of morality.  Even pagan groups have a sense of right versus wrong, and the most basic motives for any civilization are the will to survive and the right to be able to live in relative peace and safety.

Even farm animals have such motives, so they don't need the blessings of the Pope either.
