This guy is Darren Huff.  He is a birth and an Oathkeeper.  He was recently convicted.

Quote

The case dates back to April 2010 when Huff, carrying a Colt .45 and an AK-47, went to Tennessee to conduct citizens’ arrests on officials. Huff, a member of the Oath Keepers, said he going to support Walter Francis Fitzpatrick, a leader of the birther and Patriot group American Grand Jury, who was arrested for trying to perform a citizen’s arrest on a Grand Jury foreman. Fitzpatrick was angry that court officials didn’t let him pursue a Grand Jury trial against “illegal alien, infiltrator and impostor” President Obama, and other “domestic enemies.”

And what does this relate to?

It relates to the righteous indignation that tea partiers have, fooling themselves into thinking they are "patriot" citizens, and oathkeepers thinking they are "moral, truthy, jesus"types, the whole time putting down liberals and claiming we are unAmerican when they(oathkeeping teabagging redneck crabasses) take their arms into courthouses and churches and show up at town halls thinking they have a right to enforce their own justice on folks. It's bullshit and you know it. You really have to ask why?

I did better than that.  I read the entire story about his "cause."

Because this one weirdo identifies with the Tea Party, that makes everyone in it his Doppelganger?  Like, WTF?

Is that how your peanut-y little brain works, John?

I've never suggested every OWSer pinched a loaf on cop cars.

Why are we even talking about OWSers?  They are so last month now that their true purpose has been exposed, i.e. GREED!!!

i do not think anyone made the claim that this was about all right wingers.  i am sure most of them like to talk big but would not violate the law.  i am also sure most of them are into tranny porn, but that is a guess.

Georgia man faces Feb. 29 sentencing after split verdict in alleged courthouse takeover plot

Darren Wesley Huff was a man in search of a cause.

Now, he's an inmate — jailed pending sentencing for ferrying guns across state lines in what authorities allege was a plot to take over the Monroe County Courthouse.

A federal jury on Tuesday convicted Huff, 41, of violating a law passed in the turbulent 1960s designed to quell dangerous acts of civil disobedience. The eight-woman, four-man jury acquitted him, however, of a more modern federal crime most often associated with armed bank robberies — using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.

In effect, jurors opined that when Huff traveled from his Dallas, Ga., home armed with a .45-caliber handgun and an AK-47 assault rifle, both of which he was legally permitted to carry, he was bent on using those weapons, if necessary, to right the wrongs he and his newfound pals in various groups believed were being committed in the town of Madisonville.

But the panel rejected the allegation that Huff actually brandished those guns once he was allowed — with law enforcement blessing — to travel into Madisonville.

U.S. District Judge Tom Varlan ordered Huff jailed Tuesday, over the objections of defense attorney Scott Green, pending a Feb. 29 sentencing hearing. Had Huff been convicted of brandishing a gun, he would have faced a mandatory seven-year prison term required by law to be stacked onto any other sentence he receives for carting his weapons across state lines.

What punishment he now faces is unclear. The relatively obscure "civil disorder" charge carries a maximum five-year sentence, but such maximums are rarely relied upon in federal sentencings.

Huff has no criminal history. Green noted Tuesday that, unlike most federal crimes, the law on civil disorder offenses does not set out exactly where on the sentencing guidelines grid Huff's case should fall. Prosecutors Jeff Theodore and Will Mackie agreed.

Green told Varlan he believes Huff could qualify for probation and, at most, faces less than two years behind bars. Theodore and Mackie said they needed to research the issue further.

Testimony showed that Huff's trek from Navy veteran and Bible study leader to convicted criminal began in 2009 when he said he began to fear the state of government.

"All these things are now in the hands of the federal government, and they were never intended to be such," he testified last week.

Huff soon decided to join up with two groups he said he believed shared his beliefs — the Georgia militia and Oathkeepers, a group of veterans who vow to protect the U.S. Constitution even if it means taking up arms.

It was through a Tennessee director of the Oathkeepers that Huff said he first discovered the plight of fellow retired Navy man Walter Fitzpatrick.

"At the time I would have to be honest and say I was completely naive then," he said.

Huff was asked to show up in Madisonville on April 1, 2010, armed with a videocamera. He didn't know why. As it turned out, Fitzpatrick for months had been trying to get Monroe County grand jury foreman Gary Pettway to allow the grand jury to consider treason charges against President Barack Obama. Fitzpatrick is a "birther," a moniker for people who believe the president is not a "natural born citizen" and, therefore, ineligible to hold the office.

Fitzpatrick wound up arrested that day on state charges when he tried to carry out a "citizen's arrest" of Pettway, whom Fitzpatrick argued had out-served his term as foreman. Officials disagreed.

"It completely went over my head," Huff said of Fitzpatrick's legal arguments. "According to what he said, (officials) all acknowledged the fact it was not exactly kosher with Tennessee (law) but wouldn't take action."

Huff denies he returned to Madisonville on April 20, 2010, to take over the courthouse. He said he went in a show of support for Fitzpatrick, who was free on bond but set to appear in court that day.

But testimony showed Huff told anyone who would listen, including the FBI, that he would be armed, and he was.

Prosecutors Mackie and Theodore say the only thing that stopped Huff from using his weapons to take over the courthouse was the throng of law enforcers who showed up in force that day. Mackie argued the law of which Huff was convicted was designed, in fact, to prevent protests from turning violent.

"Shots don't have to be fired, people injured or property damaged before the law applies to stop conduct that presents an immediate danger of violence," Mackie said.

Green has contended, however, that Huff was being prosecuted not for what he did, but for what he said. He told Varlan on Tuesday he will appeal.

Update On Darren Huff Case
Quote
The AP story is incorrect in that it associates the Oathkeepers organization with questioning Obama’s “citizenship.”  Oathkeepers has not publicly ascribed to the beliefs held by many Americans that Obama is not constitutionally eligible to serve as president in accordance with Article II, Section 1, clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution.  There are doubts that Obama was born in the United States, and his father was never a U.S. citizen.  There is evidence that the Framers attributed a person’s citizenship to that which was inherited from his father or parents rather than, or in addition to, the person’s physical place of birth.
