There was a foreign official on the tube last Sunday, maybe a foreign service type, who expressed the view that the ragheads would likely leave us alone if we got out of the ME and stopped antagonizing them. I think there may be some truth in that because even though the  terrorists in principle are independent of a host country, that country does offer support for them by not taking them to task.  That way they can continue to take the billions in aid we offer them without jeapordizing their position.

And we are too friggin' dense to see that they are playing us for fools.  I can see why we kiss an oil rich country's ass, but why Afghanistan and Pakistan? We have more to gain by attacking Iran than by pissing around in these quagmires, not that I want another shooting war we can't win. The Iranians have been steadily building up their military  capability, and short of nuking them with ICBMs, we could take a real beating if we start  messing with them and go in half cocked.

They have developed some pretty sporty stuff in the past decade, like high speed torpedos and a better radar that will detect even drones from way out.  That is a major fear of mine for a Republican  admin., the damned proactive defense that Bush got started.  It makes sense to me, but why go looking for trouble by stirring up shit in a raghead country? If we got a problem with some punk outfit then just blow their asses away big time.  Forget nation building and all that noble shit about democracy because it will not work as long as a raghead country hangs on to Sharia law.

Obama just put an end to Iraq (which came before Afghanistan). Afghanistan will come next. He knows these wars are killing us economically. Only a matter of time before we pull back there too. But ultimately it won't matter. Obama will be wrong if we stay in Afghanistan, or wrong if he pulls us out-you'll say he's weak, or he cut and run. You people root for his failure and work against any successes or wise decisions. It is classic keep the black guy down, deny him, make him look bad, discredit.....   We(let me qualify "we"-I mean Obama supporters, I'm not black) get it.

I think you are overplaying the race card as it wouldn't matter if Obama was purple or green, it is his socialistic redistribution of wealth bullshit that turns people off. Once those sorts of laws get on the books it is very hard to get them off, so the Pubs fight him every step of the way. 

I am in favor of his winding down the war efforts for two reasons.  They are sopping up money we need for domestic purposes, and it is rather pointless and vain to go after a few ragtag terrorists with IEDs  with our high tecch expensive war machine.  Furthermore, they are making a good showing against us with a mere pittance of funding compared wo what we are blowing on the missions. 

You liberals bitch about goverment employees losing their jobs. Well what do you think a government contract defense worker makes per hour plus bennies. What is good for the goose is good for the gander little buddy, and either way it is an expense we cannot afford or justify in terms of what little we have accomplished.  I think we could accomplish just as much with drones and special ops missions like the one that took out OBL, and at a fraction of the cost of blood and treasure that we are expending now. 

Like my former boss said, stay in your foxhole and keep your powder dry, and then if the jerks continue to challenge us then get up and wipe the earth with their carcasses.
In other words, if we have to resort to using large numbers of troops either go big or stay home.  One pass with a squadron of old Buffies can do more damage than a whole damned regiment of boots on the ground, and forget mop up and the like, just move the target and keep on wiping the slate clean of anything  that breathes or moves.

The Japs took water after a couple doses of nuclear energy, so  may it does have a place in the wot.  Talk about terror, that has to be it. No place to hide, and nothing left to live on after the storm has passed. Total and permanent annihilation.
