"Republicans opposed the measure over its spending to stimulate the economy and its tax surcharge on millionaires."

Sense the US is broke......its the best choice.....no more borrowing, mo more adding to the debt.....

All of this is simply playing politics with the economy.  There is no quick fix for the economic situation, on either side.

Yes there is.

Get the fuck out of Afghanistan.

None of this other shit is worth a tinkers damn as long as we are stupid enough to keep standing on middle eastern soil.

I am not real comfy with reducing payroll taxes because they fund soc. sec. and Medicare. Yep, I use both programs, but that is not my primary concern.  Long term, the programs need tax revenues to operate, and if the tax abatement is not rescinded then that could jeapordize the solvency of these programs.

Agreed, that would help to reduce the load on the budget but we need to take it further. It looks like we are headed for an across the board cut this winter as the special committee isn't having any luck on proposing spending cuts.   I fear that even that will be just a measure to cover their asses, given the upcoming elections.
Who wants to buy the fact he voted for a cut to handouts if those same people vote for him?

What were the results of this "vote to kill" the bill?  51 Senators voted to consider the bill for debate; 46 Senators voted not to consider the bill for debate.  WHy is the right wing afraid to debate the bill?

That would help with the budget deficit.  It's unclear how it would help the economy in the short term.  In fact, it would probably hurt the economy further in the short term.

I think that's right.  They're not afraid; they're simply not willing to even consider it.  Why would a group that is devoted to obstructionism be willing to give it consideration?  This is the way they've behaved during this entire Presidential term.  Why would they change now?

Getting the fuck out of afghanistan is not the only answer. Obama did not put us in afghanistan, we were already there. You never seem to mention Iraq. Iraq has cost us more money than afghanistan. Far more. Leading economists have stated that the Obama plan for jobs would boost the economy. But we all know this is not what republicans want. They want a total collapse to happen to Obama just like it did to them so they can regain control of all parts of D.C.

We are not broke. So lets stop telling ourselves that lie. If you are broke, you do not propose initiatives that reduce revenue such as tax cuts.

As for those who said the so called snake oil is not selling, the majority of the senators in this country voted for the plan. But due to that obscure 60 vote rule that republicans have used to block all possible progress, the bill stalls.

Again the MAJORITY of all senators voted FOR the jobs plan. Let us understand this fact before we go off into the usual silly ass conservative lying session. Also let us not forget that the majority of he nations citizens want this to pass also.

The outcome of all of this was known.  Being that we are basically at the beginning of the next eletion year, nothing Obama proposesd will pass through the house, and expect that republicans will do their level best to  stop everything in the senate. Republicans will run a campaign about Obama failures. Idiots like many of the conservatives here will repeat the very lines they hear on fox and on Rush each day mindlessly not understanding that the republican party was fucking them up.

In the end, republicans will lose badly due to this strategy. There is only so much Fox News can do for  the party. There are increasing numbers of people protesting every day. The republican national convention is going to happen, and there will be hundreds of thousands protesting there who will oppose the policies of the republican party. It's not going to be a very nice scene.

These people will not be sastified with the line of these are Obamas failed policies. They are going to start asking republicans why didn't they come up with any ideas that create jobs since what Obma proposed was so damn terrible.

It is a question the republican nominee will have to answer. It is a question republicans will be asked when they return home to their constituents. It's a question they have consistently refused to answer because they cannot.

AND IT'S WHY OBAMA WILL WIN IN 2012.

In the Senate.  rather than vote not to consider it with a minority voting not to consider, why not allow the bill on the floor for a debate and a vote?
