U.S. Department of Defense (sic) is the largest single employer in the world,

Today, the Department, headed by Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta, is not only in charge of the military, but it also employs a civilian force of thousands. With over 1.4 million men and women on active duty, and 718,000 civilian personnel, we are the nation's largest employer. Another 1.1 million serve in the National Guard and Reserve forces. More than 2 million military retirees and their family members receive benefits.

Look what it buys us, body bags.

We used to make fun of  the Ruskies who bankrupted themselves on military spending, and guess what, we are also broke.  The insane part of it is that the neocons manufacture threats and bogeymen in order to justify such mind boggling waste, money that we must borrow to do what with?

I am for a strong defense, but defense against what is the question.  Like the Isrealis, we go stir up some shit and then whine because our victims retaliate.  No kidding, are they supposed to lay down and let us walk over them? 

Look at our stupidity in Pakistan and Afghanistan.  Those jokers take pride in screwing over western nations  on  crusades, and we are playng right into their hands. They cry all the way to the bank while we piss away our credit rating on war toys.
