--I’m afraid that johnhp and these guys would disagree with you on that point. They hold that pedophilia is not a perversion but merely an orientation that they should not be vilified for.

You are being dishonest again.

--Is it possible for an atheist to be a pedophile, or are they exempt from that proclivity for some reason?

Yes.  The same is true for Catholic priests.

They're wrong...The article that is.  I have seen no evidence to lump JD into that category.

Let's be clear.  The number of abuse cases has dropped for Catholic priests since the 70s.  Remember, when you look at the statistics of Catholic priests who sexually abuse kids one figure stands out: more than 70% of the abusers were trained to be priests before the reforms of the last Council.  After the Council the church trained priests differently.

The article misrepresents a great deal of the information.  The proposed changes in the manual are to include non-offending persons.

Yes.

--Okay. I thought for a moment that when you said that “(p)edophiles know no religion, political party, etc.” you were somehow implying that atheists couldn’t be pedophiles.

--I don’t believe that anyone has called that into question.

--Check the rest of the thread. He finds merit in their cause.
Now, did you mean to answer this question or were you just making idle comments.

Well, since I’ve rendered everyone dumbfounded with this question, let me just answer it the only way it can be answered:  An atheist has no grounds for objecting to engaging in sex with a willing ten year old boy. There are no moral consequences in his eyes and since, in his mind, he would be doing the ten year old a favor, he can only see it as a win/ win act of charity.

So...you are announcing that you are becoming an atheist in order to justify your status as a married man, the group most liely to molest children?
