White House Call Logs Show Lack of Transparency on Amnesty Announcement
August 24, 2011 By Kristen Williamson 29 Comments

“There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree.”
President Barack Obama, Grant Park speech election night 2008

New details have emerged about a series of White House conference calls held leading up to the nearly clandestine announcement expanding prosecutorial discretion for non-criminal illegal aliens.

While Republican Members of Congress, immigration enforcement groups and much of the media were kept in the dark about the announcement until a message was posted on the White House website, the Administration held a series of phone conferences with amnesty advocates before making the official policy announcement. (click here to view the list of participants)

Following initial calls with the staff of congressional DREAM Act supporters, the White House held a conference call open only to amnesty supporters. Those groups invited and/or participating included: the AFL-CIO, SEIU, America’s Voice, Voto Latino, MALDEF, and NCLR.

According to the records available, not one dissenting organization or Member of Congress was included or consulted during the roll out of the outrageous new policy. Additionally, only Hispanic media were invited to the initial background conference call on the announcement.

The secretive nature of the announcement and accompanying calls highlight the dangerous tactics of the Obama Administration. If the Administration is unwilling to make even the list of participants on a conference call public, let alone the content of what is discussed, how can their policies or reassurances that immigration laws are being enforced ever be trusted?

Obama cheered by illegal alien advocates, but they want more

President Barack Obama's recent executive order for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to curtail deportations for thousands of illegal aliens pleases Latino voters, but only if his minions follow through with his wishes, according to a police commander, whose mayor opposes immigration enforcement, and who requested anonymity.

Illegal alien groups and their leaders claim that for more than two years Obama disappointed them by not spending as much time on "immigration reform" as he did on bailouts and pushing through a health care bill that few Americans even wanted, the law enforcement veteran said.

"If the president had fought harder for illegal aliens, he'd have lost his battle with the Tea Party and conservatives to pass Obamacare. And Obama knew it," said political strategist Mike Baker.

"The president this week gave the illegal aliens renewed hope by announcing new rules allowing non-violent illegal immigrants to remain in the country indefinitely.

Obama Administration Curtails Deportations of Non-Criminal Immigrants

August 18, 2011 5:18 PM

ABC News’ Devin Dwyer (@devindwyer) reports:

The Obama administration today announced it will no longer actively seek to deport illegal immigrants who don’t have criminal records and that it will review all existing deportation cases involving non-criminal immigrants on a case-by-case basis.

The news follows months of intense pressure from immigrant advocates who had urged the president to use his administrative authority to refocus the government's limited law enforcement resources while congressional gridlock over a comprehensive immigration system overhaul persists.

The administration has already prioritized the removal of criminal aliens, but today officials took that policy one step further with the promise to review more than 300,000 pending deportations on a case-by-case basis and stay those involving individuals not convicted of crimes.

The Department of Homeland Security said it will also no longer focus its limited resources on apprehending and deporting non-criminals, including young people brought to the country illegally by their parents, military veterans and the spouses of active-duty troops.

FAIR Files FOIA Request Concerning Changes in Immigration Enforcement
August 26, 2011 By Steve Young 1 Comment

FAIR issued a press release today in response to the recent sweeping changes in immigration enforcement policy issued by the White House and Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS). Additionally, FAIR filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request about how the policy changes were formulated and how they will be executed, as well as sending an official letter to DHS Sec. Janet Napolitano seeking clarification about how the Administration proceeded to make sweeping policy changes without congressional authorization. Screw the Border Patrol....maybe Obama will give them all a furlough until all of the illegal aliens make themselves at home.....
How is this going to help U.S. citizens to find work in America?Huh?

I think the congressional gridlock on immigration reform gives the toad a blank check.  What his rationale is, we will never know.
