The reason should be obvious. The debt is unsustainable. At some point, you have to cut up the credit cards, tighten your belt and start living within your means.

We have reached that point.

So we didn't reach the point during Bush's tenure, huh?  Cause I didnt' hear a peep from you about the $1.2 Trillion prescription drug bill or the hundreds of billions spent to topple Saddam, or the resulting debt from Bush's tax cuts.

I'm going to digress for a moment and state for the record that the Bush prescription drug bill was perhaps the most successful spending innovation of all time, shocking even it's proponents.  Rather than doing what we normally do, which is list drugs the government will pay for, causing those drug prices to skyrocket, the Bush plan did just the opposite, announcing there would be no such list.  The result, drug prices went down.  Now, like Observer, I don't think the federal government should even be involved in this sort of thing but I find it amusing that the Left likes to refer to it from time to time.  I wouldn't if I were you....

Which brings me to the point of this post which is that it's ridiculous to suggest you "didn't hear a peep from Observer about this spending."

If anything it would be an understatement to say that about 75% of Observers posts are about government spending.  You are correct to say you haven't heard a "peep", because it's been more like a "roar."  Most of the spending on the federal level is ill advised and even more of it is unconstitutional.  You really don't remember Observer mentioning unconstitutional spending from time to time?

Really?

The most successful men I know will tell you that they are only successful because they are able to accept ‘no’ and not take it personally. Again, unsuccessful men take a ‘rejection’ as a personal assault on their inner child. Don’t make this mistake.
