when have i EVER criticized where you live?  sounds to me like you're getting a little defensive and feel a need to justify your choice of locale.  that certainly didn't come from any attack on my part of where you live.

how is that an advantage over me?  i still own my grandfather (small) farm in rural tennessee.  i can get out of here and go chill out there for a change of pace any time i want.  if i want to stay more local,  there is always ice fishing in minnesota or cabining it by the lake in michigan's upper peninsula.

why are you always presuming shit?

Visiting there is not like living there. When you live in such a nice place then you don't have to run from the city. A downside is that there are too few good jobs in podunk America. I for example, would not live here if I had to work for a living, but I am retired and brought my money with me. We are wanting to move back to the
Dallas area in order to be close to the kids and to the action. That area provides the best of many worlds. Lots of good jobs, lots of cultural opportunities, and yet plenty of very nice housing developments that are stll out in the open areas where it is not crowded yet.

I have spotted a beautiful house in Denison,Texas and if I could sell  this monster I would  be packing. Denison is near a large lake and is in a growing area, so it has the amenities of shopping, medical services, and the like.  And it is less than 100 miles from Dallas, so the big city attractions are in reach. I could live in Denison and go into the city for events, and then stay with my son overnite before going back to the home place.  That way I can have the cake and eat it without the downside of big city living.

i've lived there off and on for most of my life.  as a kid,  me and my sister spent every summer there and a couple of school semesters if my parents were in a particular work crunch.

i now use it as a writing cottage and get there whenever i need to get a LOT of work done.

my mom wanted to sell it but i convinced her to let me take it over and manage the upkeep.  10 years now.

Pope shuts Rome monastery famed for "dancing nuns" (VIDEO)

By News Desk
May 26, 2011

The 500-year-old monastery was home to a lap dancer turned nun, whose "holy dance" videos were posted on YouTube, and had been visited by Madonna.

Vatican officials launched an inquiry into the monastery after reports that the nuns were dancing around the altar reached Pope Benedict.

The Pope has shut down a 500-year-old monastery in Rome that became famous for a lap dancer turned nun and had been visited by Madonna.

Vatican officials launched an inquiry into the monastery after reports that the nuns were dancing around the altar during church services reached Pope Benedict XVI.

The monastery, which was hit with claims of “liturgical abuse,” had reportedly racked up large debts.

"An inquiry found evidence of liturgical and financial irregularities as well as lifestyles that were probably not in keeping with that of a monk," said Father Ciro Benedettini, a Vatican spokesman.

One of the nuns, Sister Anna Nobili, spent many years working as an exotic dancer in Italian nightclubs. Nobili said she changed her life after a religious experience while visiting the shrine of St. Francis of Assisi, a place of pilgrimage for Catholics, in 2002.

She kept dancing after becoming a nun, performing what she called “The Holy Dance” in front of senior Catholic leaders, including Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, head of the Vatican's Cultural Department.

Sister Nobili, who referred to herself as a “ballerina for God,” also became a YouTube sensation for videos of her dancing.

"I was wasting my life dancing for men in clubs [3]. The nights were filled with sex and alcohol. It was an empty life but I liked it because I was the centre of attention,” she told Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the Telegraph reported.

"But now my life has been transformed. I still dance but now I dance for God and I'm happy.”

The Cistercian monks based at Santa Croce in Gerusalemme — one of Rome’s oldest churches [4], with a chapel dating back to the 4th century — are being transferred to other churches, the BBC reports, citing Italian news media.

The church contains relics said to be from Christ’s crucifixion, including fragments of the cross, thorns from Christ’s crown and a nail used in the crucifixion.

Madonna secretly visited the church three years ago while in Rome to perform a concert, and took a guided tour of the relics.

“It was evident that the order had lapsed in its discipline and an Apostolic visitation [5]was arranged, which resulted in the decision to close the monastery which was approved by Pope Benedict,” a Vatican source told the Daily Mail.

Erie bishop bobblehead to be available to public

By DANA MASSING, Erie Times-News

The bobbing head of Erie Catholic Bishop Donald W. Trautman soon could be coming to a mantel, desk or shelf near you.

The bishop bobblehead figures were given to Catholic Diocese of Erie priests at a June gathering. The Erie priest responsible for the doll said other people now want one.

"There's been tons of requests," the Rev. John Detisch of Sacred Heart Catholic Church said. "I'm sure they'll be available somehow."

Detisch, who was out of town on vacation, said he planned to work out details for Trautman bobblehead orders after returning home later today. He said the figures would probably sell for about $20, depending on how many are ordered.

Joseph Lemmo, of Erie, wants one.

"It just would really be something awesome to have," said Lemmo, a member of St. George Catholic Church.

He called Trautman "a great man" and said he would be honored to add the bishop's bobblehead to the case in his memorabilia room. Lemmo already has a couple of sports bobbleheads.

The bishop, who's been good-natured about the doll, said the likeness was "pretty close" and he appreciated the "creative gift."

Detisch said he always does something for Trautman at the gathering's banquet, which falls around the bishop's birthday each year. Trautman turned 75 on June 24.

For this year's gift, Detisch did an Internet search and found a company in Atlanta that makes bobbleheads, he said.

The company's bobblehead dolls include one of Pope Benedict XVI.

Detisch sent in a couple of photographs of Trautman and eventually ordered 180 bobbleheads. He kept them a secret until a banquet during the priests' gathering.

"The funniest thing of all was seeing Bishop Trautman shake his own head," Detisch said.

Trautman has said he put his own bobblehead on a bookcase in his Erie residence.

“First bishop to wed his same-sex partner”

San Francisco’s Most Holy Redeemer parish invites retired male Episcopal bishop who ‘married’ a man to lead Advent Vespers service

Most Holy Redeemer Church, San Francisco’s notoriously ‘gay-friendly’ parish, has invited a retired Episcopalian bishop who left his wife and family to ‘marry’ a man as guest speaker at a Nov. 30 Advent Vespers Service.

The invited guest is Episcopal Bishop Otis Charles, who in 2005 provided a biographical statement to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Religious Archives Network, which said in part: “Since 1979 he has been among a growing number of bishops who have spoken out for full and complete inclusion of gay and lesbian people in the church without restriction, recognizing their calling to ministry and rejecting the notion that a baptized homosexual must live a celibate life. Whether in an informal gathering or the pulpit, he characteristically begins, ‘I am a gay man, an Episcopal (Anglican) bishop, a queer who only just mustered the courage to publicly acknowledge the truth of my life.’"

Not included in the statement is that Charles divorced his wife of 42 years, and has five children. It also does not include the fact that, on April 24, 2004, he “married” a man named Felipe Sanchez Paris in a ceremony at St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church in San Francisco.

The event was covered in the San Francisco Chronicle as “the world's first bishop to wed his same-sex partner in church.” The Chronicle also reported that, following the “marriage,” the Right Rev. William Swing, then Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of California, severed ties with Bishop Charles: "No longer is he an assisting bishop, and no longer is he licensed to celebrate the Sacraments here."

Pro-homosexuality Vespers speakers are not unusual at Most Holy Redeemer. In 2010 such speakers included Episcopal Rev. Jay Emerson Johnson, a staff member at the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. His biographical page on the CLGS website says, “His current research and writing interests involve the intersections of queer theory and Christian traditions.”

Another 2010 Vespers speaker at Most Holy Redeemer was the openly homosexual Rev. Jeff Bert, then serving as an associate pastor at Metropolitan Community Church of San Francisco.

In 2008, the parish hosted retired Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, who has challenged Church teaching on homosexuality and is a member of the dissident group Call to Action. Bishop Gumbleton is a recipient of the New Ways Ministry “Bridge Building” award. In 2010, Washington, D.C., Archbishop Donald Wuerl and Oakland Bishop Salvatore Cordileone, speaking for the USCCB, said of New Ways Ministry, “in no manner is this organization authorized to speak on behalf of the Catholic Church or to identify itself as a Catholic organization.”

On Dec. 4, 2007 Most Holy Redeemer hosted Dr. Ora Prochovnick, then-president of Sha'ar Zahav Congregation of San Francisco, whose affiliations include “the World Congress of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Jews (WCGLBTJ) and the San Francisco Organizing Project (SFOP).

In 2006, Vespers speakers included same-sex “married” parishioner and past MHR Pastoral Council President Roz Gallo; Jesuit Fr. Donal Godfrey, a well-known homosexual activist; and Fr. David Matz, CPPS, a Missionary of the Precious Blood of the Kansas City Province. The MHR bulletin introduced Fr. Matz this way: “He is currently studying at Pacific School of Religion at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA, where he resides. He is studying for a Doctor of Ministry degree focusing on LGBT issues.”

You posted gay porn here 2 nights ago, and now this. You are way too pre-occupied with all things gay to be a normal straight guy, so, I'm just going to say it-You're gay, Mornac. Go tell your wife(if your're still married) and get it over with. Confession is good for the soul. Otherwise she will eventually find it on your computer anyway.

There were times when he would pout over that and pretend to leave the site.  i guess it is not so much shutting him up over who tells him to shut up.

He's probably glad that all got deleted because he realizes that he fucked up by posting the gay porn, basically outing himself. I mean, He had to first go out there and locate the porn before bringing it here, which shows interest to research, the posting his porn find here and composing a series of posts about it the whole time trying to pretend it was newsworthy to any of us, when the only thing that became abundantly clear is that the subject matter definately interested him, but not us. And now he follows it up with more gay priest stuff.....This guy is definately gay.

i wonder about the time he accused a guy, falsely, of promoting pedophilia?  This could be more disturbing than we know.

Yeah, projection or transference as it were....And he cloaks it with his sanctimonious "my catholic sect is more holier than the rest" bullshit. But his fixating on the gay stuff and getting raunchy w/ the posts-that is more unsettling.
