"When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of men's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses, for art establishes the basic human truths which must serve as the touchstone of our judgment."

That's right.. like Al Gore's been saying for a few years now.  Smiley    Clearly there is money to be made for going green, and money to be lost for not going green.

And now Detroit is asking Uncle Sam for millions of dollars to help it retool to produce more eco-friendly cars - what - they didn't see this coming years ago?    What the hell is wrong with these companies.    They don't remember losing market share to economical Japanese cars when the OPEC crisis hit in the 70's?    They didn't know gas was going to get more expensive.   You'd think they'd have people looking into these things - instead we get a big rollout of Hummer from GM and new Cadillacs for the last 10 years, and no electric cars or hybrids.

People generally don't like change.  That is why change has been comming so slowly.

The electric cars have been dubbed unsafe.  That is why they are not moving so quickly on production.   Serious accidents would cause serious explosions and unimaginable acid burns to both occupants and bystanders.

There perhaps is also the fact that sometimes the new takes money away from those vested in the old/
