and it's always been true in my dealings with people who claim to be "religious".  i'm not talking about the most earnest theologians that i come across but when dealing with the rank and file,  this study sounds just about right:

Its seems to me a good majority of us were brought up as one religion or another (me, Roman Catholic) but simply have no interest in learning about our religion because we don't really believe in it.

Yep, this study is pretty accurate. Thats because religious dogma is not the important thing. It's all about acting in the spirit, which means that we must stay in tune with our own individual spirituality.

Of course the study is accurate.  Look at all those good reich wing Christians who think Jesus was nailed on the Cross to insure lower taxes on dividends.

The quiz is online. It's really not that difficult. I think just about all of this was taught in high school. The only one I didn't know was the Shiva question. I would think you would pick most of this up just from watching a few movies, like DaVinci Code and Big Love.

I’ve been saying this for years myself. I’m glad it’s finally getting some print. I can’t speak for the protestant sects but Catholic ignorance about the faith is clearly a consequence of liberal man-handling of documents emanating from the Second Vatican Council. Indeed, many who have been brought up in the post-councilor Church stopped believing simply because they were never taught properly.

Q. Mornac, do you have any demonstrative proof that your god exists?

Liberal, really?

I think the turn off is "conservatives". Ever think of that possibility Mornac?

Or perhaps it's time to change the 7 day pads?

How about your promotion of ignorance with these votex videos and that video about the school trip?  Why not try affirming a little objective reality before you cast aspersions.

Liberals have not been the problem. Liberals generally are atheist, agnostic, or deal with sprituality. Conservatives for the most part are literalists, thinking like the pharisees that they and only they have the ultimate and righetous interpretation of all that is spiritual. Kinda like that Voris asshiole that keeps getting posted up here.

So like any other faith, whatever Catholic ignorance there is has nothing to do with liberalism, but since the ignorant fool who posts up all this catholic crap is a conservative, its easy for him to put all the blame on liberals.

--Well no actually. I wasn't even aware that there was any conservative man-handling of documents emanating from the Second Vatican Council. If you can post a few examples, I'll be happy to consider them.

You can't cite any liberal man-handling of documents but that doesn't stop you from making this stupid accusation.
