In the 1980s, Jones formed the Christian Community of Cologne, a charismatic Christian church in a heavily Catholic part of Germany that, at one point, claimed 800 members, reported dpa, the German Press Agency.

However, Jones was ousted from the church in 2008 over financial irregularities and personality clashes, according to the report. The church now has between 60 and 80 members.

oh, and for the trial, finder of fact crowd....

In 2002, Jones was fined 3,000 euros by a German court for using the title of "doctor" under false pretenses. Members also said he was at the center of some financial irregularities. Since his departure in 2008, the congregation has had no contact to Jones.

What a schmeckel.

This guy needs to be mocked... but he is also seriously endangering the lives of our troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.   So perhaps he should be threatened  Angry

i understand a lot of political leaders are making this claim that he is endangering the lives of American in military services.  The act itself is invidious.  Of course, he is also breaking local ordinances.  He needs a burn permit and it has been denied.

What i think is more important than this Jones guy, is that religious organizations across Gainesville are gathering to promote interreligious dialog.  i wish the news would focus on this rather than Jones and his gaggle of 4 dozen kooks.  His act is self-defeating because it has brought religious persons of genuine good will out in response.

Oh, and those lunatic righties out there claiming that what Jones is doing is the same thing as building the Cordoba House, they are wrong.  Jones, his followers and those who cannot condemn him without pandering to Islamophobia are wastes of human skin.

agree!   and who the hell is Sarah Palin to say how many New York City blocks away from the WTC site the Cordoba House is appropriate?    She should keep her ignorant rants in Wasilla and other "real American" places.    What a despicable character.. and I hope she runs!

Mornac's response is just too stupid for further comment.

I thought that with the passing of the Patriot act and the formation of Dept of Homeland Security that Law Enforcement could pretty much round up anyone who they wanted if they deemed the person or their actions a threat to the country, citizens, troops whatever. With the state dept and the pentagon expressing the threat they see this guys intentions to be, I'd say this qualifies and he should be rounded up, even for just threatening to do what he intends and for what it has already caused. Haul this idiot in now, or lets hold Bible burnings at his doorstep also. I've had it with this idiot. Ive said it before, I'm actually more worried about the religious terrorists and religious idiots in our own country-even so called christian ones, than I am of muslims.

Well, we have learned two things from your post.

1. You don't know nearly as much about the Patriot Act as you pretend you do.
2. You have no regard for the constitution of the United States.

How very Leftist of you.

You are the one pretending to be a know it all dipshit.

Most of the following information is taken from the ACLU's written objections to Congress before and after the passage of the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act does the following:

The Patriot Act does away with due process and lets cops do what they want (cops meaning FBI, CIA, etc.).

It allows for indefinite incarceration without trial for those deemed by the Attorney General to be threats to national security. The Fifth Amendment guarantees that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law, and the Patriot Act does away with due process. It even allows people to be kept in prison for life without a trial.

It gives the Attorney General and the Secretary of State the power to designate domestic groups as terrorist organizations. That means, among other things, that the President and Attorney General can decide someone like Terry Jones is a terrorist, and under this law, it can put him in jail. This means they can jail anyone who disagrees with them, and keep them in jail for life without a trial.

Observer, you should really cease trying to bring up matters of constitutionality.

I know how this is going to turn out, but:

Observer, Prove me wrong. Man up, bring sources, cite case law or the Patriot Act itself, something/anything, PROVE ME WRONG. Bring it, bad boy. Put up or shut up.

No, it doesn't.

By the way, the CIA is NOT a law enforcement agency and has NO law enforcement authority.

Where do you get this stuff?   Grin

The Patriot Act does not and cannot supersede the Constitution of the United States in any way. All of the rights of US Citizens guaranteed and protected by the Constitution before the Patriot Act are STILL guaranteed and protected by the Constitution.

You really need to stop watching Alex Jones.

The CIA is a federal law enforcement agency dipweed. The three Federal Law Enforcement Agencies are: FBI, CIA, and the ATF. Homeland Security is in charge of all of the above. You are our resident know it all in law enforcement and security, and you just flunked out.
And show me where the Patriot Act does not forego constitutional rights. Do more than cite the gospel according to Observer. Show me case history or chapter and verse that I am wrong. You already flunked your first part of the civics course regarding the CIA not being law enforcement. Wanna double down on stupid?
