Brewer: No more debates - period

PHOENIX - Arizona voters won't be seeing any more debates between the top gubernatorial contenders.

Incumbent Republican Jan Brewer said Thursday she has no intention of participating in any more events with Democrat Terry Goddard. She said the only reason she debated him on Wednesday is she had to to qualify for more than $1.7 million in public funds for her campaign.

"I certainly will take my message in a different venue out to the people of Arizona," she said.

Brewer said she has been in elective office for 28 years, and Goddard has held office for nearly that long. "I think it's pretty defined what he stands for and what I stand for."

Anyway, Brewer said, she believes the debates help Goddard more than they benefit her.

"Why would I want to give Terry a chance to redefine himself?" she said.

Oh.  She must have something going for her to have survived in politics all those years.  Some people don't do well at debates but that doesn't mean they are dumb. Others do well but their policies turn out to be fantaisies that are wrong headed and based on unrealistic expectations and a faulty understanding of what the people want or need.

I used to work with the slicksters that were fast on their feet but I hung in there and saw many of them come and go. My game was not talk but results and I became known for what I could do and not what I said.

Sounds like she has a good track record.  What more need she say.  Could the Arizona positon on illegal immirgrants have any bearing on your assessment of her?  There are other states that also have a large illegal immigrant problem and they need someone with the balls to stand up to the liberal feds on this issue.

As to Observer, I think he is a good solid citizen with an excellent record of service to his country.  He has his own business and apparently doesn't let his ethinicity drag him down. That is because he is an American tht puts America first, and not some hyphenated self centered bigot that cares only about him and his own kind. 
I have known of Observer for a number of years now and to me he is a top drawer person in spite of the atempts by others to drag him down to their level. 

So what if he isn't the most diplomatic person when expressing his viewpoints.  At least he is sincere and most of the time he is very correct with his outlook on the issues.  He has backbone, something that is missing with so many whining wimps on this forum.

the difference is that in general the rest of us use stuff like reason and sources when "debating" our positions.

just merely stating your position as fact without providing any context, then calling everyone else cowards because they ask you to back up your stuff isn't a sign of anything other than trolldom.

You are an illegal immigrant, or you descended from them to be more accurate. I think she’s scared to debate because her position seems to be due to a very large relationship she has with a very large correctional facility corporation which stands to benefit in a very large way to her legislation.

I don’t care about Observer’s diplomacy or lack thereof. The fact is that if you truly have backbone you support your opinions. You just don’t get to make declarations while demanding that other show you evidence when they make their own. As for him being correct, HA! Nothing he has said concerning Iraq was correct, and when you consider that nothing conservatives has said has worked, or has been shown to be correct, then what you need to understand is that in fact, Observer has been wrong on all the issues he has presented around here.

Wrong answer. In politics debates are part of the game. If you had something to stand for, then you are not scared to debate. What is faulty is when your state has a large number of Mexicans that you create a law that discriminates against Mexicans like that law she has enforced does. It’s also wrong headed and unrealistic to expect that in this nation people want to go back to overt types of discrimination based upon the fears of white bigots like you.

You responded by posting an address to which you said I should send the tickets.  You didn't say anything about not wanting to post your address. You didn't say anything about corresponding by PM. When I asked you for an address, you posted it.

I looked up the address and contacted the business located there by telephone and asked for you BY NAME. I was advised by the woman to whom I was speaking that you were a FORMER EMPLOYEE of that business and could not be contacted there.

Now, think about this... go slow.

You DID post the address I contacted.

If I had not contacted them and asked for you, I could not have known you were a former employee who could not be reached there.

You never offered to send an address by PM, Email, or any other medium.
