Totally agree with this.. it's all about white people fear of becoming a minority

Glenn Beck's rally was large, vague, moist, and undirected—the Waterworld of white self-pity.
By Christopher Hitchens

One crucial element of the American subconscious is about to become salient and explicit and highly volatile. It is the realization that white America is within thinkable distance of a moment when it will no longer be the majority. This awareness already exists in places like New York and Texas and California, and there have even been projections of the time(s) at which it will occur and when different nonwhite populations will collectively outnumber the former white majority. But it also exerts a strong subliminal effect in states like Alaska that have an overwhelming white preponderance.

Until recently, the tendency has been to think of this rather than to speak of it—or to speak of it very delicately, lest the hard-won ideal of diversity be imperiled. But nobody with any feeling for the zeitgeist can avoid noticing the symptoms of white unease and the additionally uneasy forms that its expression is beginning to take.

....At the last "Tea Party" rally I attended, earlier this year at the Washington Monument, some in the crowd made at least an attempt to look fierce and minatory. I stood behind signs that read: "We left our guns at home—this time" and "We invoke the First Amendment today—the Second Amendment tomorrow." But Beck's event was tepid by comparison: a call to sink to the knees rather than rise from them. It was clever of him not to overbill it as a "Million"-type march (though Rep. Michele Bachmann was tempted to claim that magic figure). The numbers were impressive enough on their own, but the overall effect was large, vague, moist, and undirected: the Waterworld of white self-pity.

They refer to it as "Restoring America."

"Restoring America" from what? Do you suppose they're referring to 8 years of a disastrous Bush administration?

Somehow I don't think that's it. Your theory seems more accurate.

Leftists have to make everything about race...

Why do you do that? Don't you feel embarrassed or ashamed to pander so blatantly to those who wish to divide this country by race and to play on the fears of those you see as nothong more than a demographic and potential votes?

Beck is a failed, alcoholic zoo keeper doling out the bullshit he learned at 12 step meetings as if it were something massively theologically significant.  And Hitchens is right, that is what the religious right is drinking up as if it were heady stuff.  Notice how Beck tried to say he was picking up where King left off, until it was pointed out what King actually stood for.

He's made millions. He's succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.

It's the suckers who fall in with him who have failed.

Stop repeating the old standard bullshit right wing lines Observer. Glen Beck and other loud mouths have race baited away and you agree with it. What exactly is he restoring  Observer? What country do the tea bag nutjobs want back? This country has never gone anywhere.

You wish to deny, but this is what I have been describing for damn near two decades. Again a preponderance of evidence supports my words, and all you can do is use standard right wing crap.

It's time to man up son. You will man up or be removed, these are the choices you have left. In less than 20 years whites will be a minority. This was never just the white mans land. Half of you knows this.

The left did not make anything about race. The right did. Conservatives did, and they continue trying to gin up whites to do stupid shit, because for some odd reason whites like Beck seem to think they are entitled to some make believe versio of America. A America that never was.

Responding to obvious racism, racist undertones, and coded racist terms, is not making something about race. It's responding to the racism and race baiting that is already being pushed by the right wing. What you see right now is the end result of the southern strategy. The republican party is now the party of racists, and if I were a republican and non racist I would work very hard to get the racists out of controlling positions within my party.

Yep, money is a temporary thing. He cannot take his money with him when he is dead. Right now, Beck is being fooled into thinking he is doing somethng patriotic. Too many people use money as the standard of sucess. Thats why we have what we have today. The rich have the money to pay for political campaigns, while  the poor and others who may actually have better solutons cannot. Money is no measure of anything but money. It does not mean you are smarter than anyone else. Hell, a retard can become a multi millionaire by winning the lottery,l or by inheritance.

What Beck has done is decieve people into a race baited ferver. And literally unless he recants and changes, there will be hell to pay for Glenn Beck.

The Republican bankrollers know that Rush Limbaugh is getting old so they need a new propagandist to take over that is 13 years younger.  The Right live in a polar opposite alternate reality where black is white and white is black, wrong is right and right is wrong, etc...  As such, they use "projection" to project their values on others.  In this case, Beck who in reality is a racist, calls Obama a racist.  This is a common theme amongst the Right.
