What is it with the right wing and fear of non-whites becoming citizens?  Hell, the right wingers over at nutdaily are now putting forth an idea to invalidate Obama's citizenship.  The collateral damage?  If you follow their logic, no president of the United States is a naturalized citizen until U S Grant.  His was the first father actually born after the ratification of the constitution and hence, according to the right wing, a US citizen.

Since the 14th Amendment was not adopted until 1868 and Grant became President in 1869, he was the first President to be governed by the Citizenship Clause. Prior to the implementation of the 14th, the States, not the Federal Government, decided what constituted a citizen.
