How would you like it if someone talked about your wife like that?

There was a time when you had a little class. I guess that time is long gone.

Dershowitz claims epstein plea deal was fair
« Reply #17 on: July 10, 2019, 02:33:55 PM »
and would do it again.     Dershowitz has been implicated in this mess.  He doesn't look the type to me but ...looks can be misleading.    I would not be surprised for some young woman to come forward to say Dershowitz was one of her massage clients.     The dems would love to take him down for his support of the president.  It's that culture of political destruction thing.
CBS News/ July 10, 2019, 7:14 AM

Alan Dershowitz, Jeffrey Epstein's former lawyer, claims plea deal was fair and would do it again

The high-profile lawyer who defended Jeffrey Epstein in his 2008 sex abuse case in Florida and helped negotiate what many have criticized as a lenient plea deal says he had no idea about the extent of the allegations against Epstein when he defended him more than a decade ago but insists he would do it all over again.

"I would try to get a better deal. The job of a criminal defense attorney is to try to get the best possible deal," he said.

In his first TV interview since Epstein was indicted Monday on child sex trafficking charges, Alan Dershowitz denies the deal was a bargain, instead arguing prosecutors lacked the evidence to indict the billionaire financier for federal sex trafficking charges back in 2008. Epstein served just 13 months in jail and had to register as a sex offender after being accused of sexually abusing dozens of underage girls.

"Did you ever see Mr. Epstein with underage girls?" CBS News' Mola Lenghi asked Dershowitz at his New York City apartment.

"No. Oh, no. If I had ever seen Jeffrey Epstein in any inappropriate situation with an underage girl, I would've terminated my relationship and turned him in. No way," he said. "We were shocked by the allegations, but as a criminal lawyer, being shocked by an allegation doesn't mean that I won't defend somebody," he said.

An in-depth investigation by the Miami Herald in November uncovered police records alleging Epstein molested dozens of underage girls. One detective told the paper the evidence supporting the girls' claims was "overwhelming."

"They made a deal, and for them it was not a bad deal," Dershowitz said. "They got him to be a registered sex offender to pay vast amounts of money to all the women, and to get him to plead and go to jail, and expose him for the world to see as a sex offender. I think the feds thought it was the best they could do."

Dershowitz also insisted that Epstein's wealth and power was not the reason he got the deal he did, saying, "I think a lot of people without the power and wealth might've gotten a better deal."

"Because his prominence, his fame made it clear that the prosecution would work very hard to get the best possible deal they could. Look, wealth is a two-edged sword. It helps you put together a very good legal team, but it also puts you in the public eye in a way that makes the prosecution work very hard to get a conviction," Dershowitz said.

Part of Epstein's immunity deal left open the avenue for civil charges to be brought up against Epstein. Asked how much money Epstein has paid out, Dershowitz said he wasn't involved in that aspect of the case.

"I'm a criminal lawyer, not a civil lawyer, but from what I know, tens of millions of dollars were paid out to many, many alleged victims," he said.

Dershowitz also addressed accusations from one of Epstein's accusers, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claims Dershowitz was part of Epstein's alleged sex trafficking operation. Dershowitz vehemently denies Giuffre's allegations and says he has proof Guiffre is lying. Guiffre is suing him for defamation.

"The same woman that accused me claimed to have had dinner with Bill Clinton and two underage girls on Jeffrey Epstein's island, claimed to have met Al Gore and Tipper Gore. Secret Service records show that all of that is fantasy and made up. This is a woman with a long, long record of lying for money," Dershowitz said.

Overnight, Giuffre filed opposition papers disputing Dershowitz's motion to dismiss her lawsuit. Her lawyers say Dershowitz is intentionally lying about Giuffre in an attempt to discredit her and "intimidate her into silence."

The Democrat Who Let Jeffrey Epstein Get Away
Why is no one talking about Barry Krischer?
July 11, 2019
Daniel Greenfield

The Florida prosecutor who allowed Jeffrey Epstein to get away with the abuse of children is a very popular guy in Palm Beach.

The YWCA of Palm Beach County (“eliminating racism, empowering women”) offers the Barry Krischer Humanitarian Award and the Domestic Violence Council has a Barry Krischer scholarship.

Last year, the ADL honored Krischer with its Jurisprudence Award.

The Florida Bar had honored Kirscher with a lifetime achievement award and he’s still listed as a member in good standing. Even Jeb Bush had bestowed a Peace at Home award on the prosecutor.

Krischer sits on the Criminal Justice Commission and offers training to law enforcement, court personnel and child welfare providers on dealing with crimes of sexual violence. His bio states that he remains active in “child welfare issues” through his work with the Department of Children and Families.

The former Palm Beach County State Attorney had made national news three times during his career. Once when he went after Rush Limbaugh, then after Ann Coulter, two Republicans, and when, after being handed the case of Epstein, a co-founder of the Clinton Global Initiative, he gave him a pass.

Barry Krischer is a Democrat. Jeffrey Epstein is a billionaire donor to Democrats.

As Chief Prosecutor, Krischer had made his reputation with a zero-tolerance policy of prosecuting juveniles as adults. But after Epstein had abused underage girls, Krischer, according to the detective on the case, ignored police efforts to charge him with four counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and instead the billionaire abuser was indicted only on a minor charge of solicitation of prostitution.

Interviews with over a dozen girls and witnesses were ignored.

The victims were not notified of when they needed to appear before Krischer’s Grand Jury. Calls by the police to issue warrants for the arrest of Epstein and his associates were ignored by Kirscher’s subordinates. Eventually, Kirscher’s people stopped taking phone calls from the police.

The Palm Beach police chief claimed that information was being leaked to Epstein’s lawyers and wrote a public letter attacking Krischer and urging him to disqualify himself from the case. Instead the travesty went on. State prosecutors allowed Epstein to skip sex offender counselling, and hire a private shrink.

When the judge asked assistant state prosecutor Lanna Belohlavek if all the victims had signed off on the deal, she claimed that they had. The lawyer for the victims has said that was not the truth.

As a sex offender, Epstein should have been in state prison, but instead he received a private wing in the Palm Beach County stockade.

“There’s significant budget cuts in the county already, and sending him to the county jail and not the Dept. of Corrections is a significant cost to the taxpayer and the county,” the judge had objected.

But reporting to the stockade allowed Epstein to hire Palm Beach sheriff’s deputies as his security while he spent the day in his office on his work release program. The deputies stayed in the front room of his office, during the time that he was supposed to be in prison, while visitors went into his private office.

The deputies stopped calling Epstein an “inmate” and began referring to him as a “client”.

Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, a Democrat, oversaw the illegal arrangement.

Bradsaw and Krischer were political allies.
