Maybe it's about who has the money....

Maybe it's about who has the money....
It seems that both presidents were weak presidents in that they did not demand more from their cabinet secretaries, or were they both domineering and control freaks that did not delegate responsibility and authority to their subordinates.

I think Mr. Bush was the tail on a dog and somebody was doing the wagging.  His primary interest was foreign policy and the oil reserves of the Middle East.  As to Obama's interests, he is much too ambitious and much too idealistic it seems.  If he could settle down and concentrate on fewer initiatives then he might accomplish more than he is doing now.

The opposition to his ideas tells me that something just isn't kosher with the people or things would move along better in Congress.  I think the fear of him imposing a socialistic governance on America bothers a lot of people and I can see and hear this as I talk to patrons while doing my census work.  Folks aren't supportive of him in my neck of the woods, and many are dirt poor. I guess they have too much pride to sell out to a socialist.

People can argue the propriety of a presiden'ts policies, but the real test is how they are perceived.  Right or wrong, if a president cannot sell the people on his ideas then he is in for a rough time of it.
I think that was Bush's problem in that he was not a charismatic person, that plus the fact that people are averse to sending our troops off to die in a war of questionable origin.

I have seen articles that compare our intervention in both world wars to our intervention in the ME.
IMO there is no comparison as to the magnitude of our current conflicts versus that of the world wars
in terms of manpower, hardware, and areas impacted.

The world wars were resolved with military power, and the opposition surrendered after being badly beaten down, but with Islamic extremism I don't see military power alone doing the job.  In that respect the threat we face now may be greater in magnitude than the world wars because there is no simple resolution to the Islamic zeal that drives the terrorists.

MSP,

There is one thing you forget here. Obama has tried engaging republicans, while Bush simply ignored democrats when  they had control. Because if Obamq was truloy a carbon copy of Bush, we woul dhave a single payer health care plan passed as law and anyone who opposed it would have been ran down to the ground, called unpatriotic and everything else.

You have admitted for looking for Dr King in Obama. So you are naturally dissapointed when he could not do in one year what it took King 20 to do and because things simply have not turned around you want to join republicans in denouncing him when in fact republicans are part of the problem.

If not the entire problem.

After all it was a republican created mess that casued the collapse of our economy. And I don't think its unfair to bring this up every time any republican dares mention anything negative about jobs, the economy or anything else similar.

You believe President Obama is a carbon copy of Bush?

omfg - seriously?

I'm new to this site, so maybe you're a poster who leans right and relished the fact that ALL of us even, a smidge to the left were basically told to FO for 6 or so years?

I'm a big supporter of the current administration.  I tend to lean way left in every poll/test ... I am ok with the president trying to be the president for ALL America, not just the president for the left.  I know how alienated and desperate I felt during the Bush years - I'm not happy with every decision, but I'm sure as hell glad we have a president who isn't willing to just throw part of America into the trash, even though they have different opinions.

Same as Bush?  No damn way.

It's another ridiculous "conservative" meme.

Notice how "makesenseplease" uses a smiley that looks like he's just had his teeth kicked in. This guy doesn't know what he is. He went around for years claiming to a liberal but never, ever took a liberal stance on anything. Now he's claiming that I converted him to be a "conservative."

Ha!

He can't "win" any of them.  I actually enjoy his little "digs".  He reminds me of former girlfriends that I used to kick to the curb but they keep coming back for more.  Must be something in the water.

Every board he visits either laughs at him or simply kicks him off, just as Malone did.

As soon as Merry gets to know him, she will probably kick him off her board also.

This is the only board where Bags is welcomed.

So you support a president that wants to levy punitive taxes on the many for the sake of the few, to favor the feeders at the expense of the hands that do the feeding?  Don't worry dear as Vel will take good care of you and the other useful idiots that fall for Obama's snake oil.

Take a look at the news on TV and note the uproar and the demonstrating against Obama's healthcare proposal.
The takers outnumber the givers and the givers are the ones that are getting trashed.  There is such a thing as killing the geese that lay the golden eggs and right now is not a good time to be talking more taxes and government intrusion into the private sector.  Shop owners don't have to hire and the larger firms can get by with part time help that get no bennies like you socialists think you have a right to.

The politicians in my neck of the woods are so stupid that they are thinking of taxing their own "kool-aid."
