As you have seen over the years, here and at NoPC, Observer and I rarely agreed on anything. In a way, it's  sad that he thought to misuse his position, instead of having an intelligent debate here at Newsrake.

But, we also lost an alternative point of view. When we are left with only those who all agree, what is the point of the Forum?

Also, if you are condemning Observer for his statement about Velliety, you should also be aware that there are many times where Velliety does use intimidation tactics and turns almost every subject he can't "win" the arguement on, into a slam-fest of the person he disagrees with, rather than sticking with the subject of the thread. In fact, he even gets help from johnhp at times.

I always thought the idea of a public discussion forum was where people can express their opinion and receive feedback from others in an adult manner. Maybe I'm wrong.

I never understood why a moderator would publicly admonish someone on the board instead of dealing with  them privately..statements like "your out of here" are not very professional...forgive me Observer you brought this on yourself. Watching you made me realize how unfair I was on my board, It's one thing to disagree with someone on a board, but it is another to use your moderator status to bully someone around, with threats of being removed.

I agree Holly, I am sad to lose Observer's viewpoint, even though I rarely agree with it.    I am also sad for the members who quit in disgust when we made him a moderator.   Observer is well aware me as a left wing moderator never once used moderator authorities to stifle his viewpoints on this forum.   Never happened.    

Regarding vel, I am not aware of vel abusing his moderation position against you or anyone else.  

I hope we get more viewpoints and voices.   But, I'd rather have 3 people posting than the kind of forum Observer would have had where moderator abuses his position to stifle positions he doesn't agree with or can't handle.

I agree with you Pepsi. If anyone should know the abuse of a moderator, I should, as I was with Wendy at NoPC. And so far my ban still remains.

I did not say Velliety uses his moderator postion to intimidate. I wasn't accusing him of that. But, you can also stifle an opinion with false accusations and deriding a person's character.

I love Newsrake, everyone here is kind of like a "family" to me, I just hope it continues to be "fair and balanced" as it always has been.

Why should there be any abuse?  What are you, some sort of an animal?  Things have not always been this way at newsrake. At least Observer was open about his admonishments and didn't resort to snipes and ad hominen insults.

If people had acted in a respectful manner then Observer would not have gotten on to him.  He and I have not always agreed on things and yet I have had the sense to treat him and his beliefs as I would like him to  treat me and mine. In other words, we agreed to disagree at times and then got on with life. 

This has become a snakepit of infantiles, a place where mob rule prevails over reason and common courtesy. I think a lot of you young fools are struggling for recognition and power.  If not you wouldn't insist on having the last word all the time and would not resort to such ignorant insults of the opposition.
 
Some of you may have noticed, I don't post here like I used to because I have grown tired of being insulted by punks like johnhp and Marx Junior.  Some of you are slow learners and Vel hopes you stay that way because his game is this.  By discrediting and belittling the integrity of those who don't buy his socialist mantra he hopes to convince you useful idiots to join in with him on his march to a utopian America. treated now that Observer is not around to absorb their abuses.  She has always been a congenial moderator and has seldom got on to anyone, but what has it bought her?  In the discussions where she has a different point of view I cannot help but notice the condescending and insulting way that she is being treated.  Why does she stick around and put up with it?  Is she some sort of a masochist?  Lucy fits in well on other forums and I hope she wises up and tells Pepsi to hang this place where the sun doesn't shine.
