There are more conservative thinkers than you are willing to acknowledge, perhaps. But, then, you have already decided that "conservative" thinking should be vilified, no? Regardless of any value in that line of thought for you, your kids, your grandkids, etc.

Where are you going to go when the shit hits the fan economically, for example? The indicators are showing we are looking more like the Weimar Republic daily...hyperinflation could easily happen. Not to mention a real food crisis because our agricultural yield is in sad shape....etc.

So, why does the government not prepare its own citizens for the POSSIBILITY of these things instead of spending more money on military operations such as Yemen, and stupid cameras in airports....
I wasn't aware that our ag yield was in bad shape. We had bumper crops this past year and have grain piled on the ground in places for lack of closed storage. Meat, milk and dairy, and even eggs are plentiful and the prices seem to have stabilized. Eggs in my area went thru the roof for a while because a big producer burned out.

Not meaning to be snotty lucy, but what preparation do you have in mind for people?  I can see where folks need to lay back a contigency fund and need to keep their debt down so they can pay the ridiculous prices for natural gas, electrical power, and motor fuels.  Give the farmers the right incentive and they can help to moderate our energy costs.  If energy prices were stable it would help as folks and businesses could budget better. The way it is we are at the mercy of the pumps and the commodity speculators.  You know, Vel's asshole buddies in the trading pits.

There are many voices out there who share the idea that the US dollar is probably going to go down the tubes. There has been discussion about a new international currency or international economic change which would end the dollar's favored status, etc.

This is not about Keynes really. The reality is far more complex, and you know this.

As far as "conservative" thought is concerned....it would help for policy makers to do what is legally and constitutionally binding, for one thing. It would also help if we began to control government spending with some rational oversight, don't you think? A nation cannot be trillions in debt to other nations without paying the piper at some point down the road....China, Russia, Japan, India....these guys are creating wealth through productive means. We're simply borrowing money mostly....this cannot work forever.

It's basic common sense, really.
Christ a Mighty lucy, don't you know nuthin'.  Keynes is God and his ramblings are Gospel to a Marxist.

Not to worry about the conservatives losing anything. They got brother Reid working for them.  His ass is mud, I hope.  That retard is fungus and a blight on the Congress that is long overdue for replacement anyway. The first thing to do with that sob is to take his retirement healthcare bennies away from him and put him on this magic reformed piece of shit that he helped ramrod thru the Congress. And then put him in bed with that bitch Pelosi and her 757 luxury liner. She might give him an attitude adjustment.  Cool

All of this conern about debt and costs should have been spoken around the year 2002 or 2003 when you  conservatives mostly did not gives a rats ass about any debt 2 wars would create when you add tax cuts to the economy while trying to wage them. So then no one wants to read this shit you guys keep posting up about marxist this and marxist that. You needed to talk about reigning in spending then, and you didn’t. So as far as i am concerned all of you conservatives can just close your mouths.

ALL OF YOU CONSERVATIVES marched damn near lock step with the fools who created the initial debt and damn near collapse of our economy. No cost was to be spared, no price AND INDEBTENESS TO FORIEGN CREDITORS WAS TOO HIGH. Now we have to endure the shit you guys post whining about debt.  A debt that your party created, because the nation was not in this kind of debt when GW Bush took office. RECORD SURPLUSES WERE THE PREDICTIONS as I recall.

This is why I am going to start holding an even more fucked up attitude towards conservatives. YOU chumps put us here. And you want to continue doing the same shit that got us here. And some of you now may see the mistakes you supported and wish to turn tail hoping that we all ignore the fact that you supported the very ideology that made the mess we live in now.

I am not going to do that. So then why don't you conservatives just shut the hell up about debt until you can be men and women enough to admit to the fact that the the ideas you supported failed this country to the point of collapse and the reason we sit in this  debt now is that those who took over inherited a mess created by what you believe and are trying to fix it. Anything else but that is going to draw disdain in a manner thats going to  piss you off. But I don't care anymore because I'm real tired of reading shit from you arrogant bastards who almost ruined this nation by who you voted for, and because of the lie of an ideolgy you supported.

Most politicians are not concerned about the debt, for that matter...it's all about the CORPORATION and the future of the agenda, perhaps.

The questions I have now have more to do with what really has happened to our nation's treasury over the years...Not just the past decade but far beyond that, really...back to the time when we started allowing fiat money stand in the place of our real currency.

Gold and silver and real production of wealth, for example....Some would say these have no meaning, but you only have to look at what is gaining in value right now overall and who is buying or investing in what to hedge their bets/

A few trillion or so missing, a few billion in fake gold here and there...since before the Clintons and beyond...

Hey, why worry? We still have some food to buy and the checks are still coming from the government, right?

The conservatives didn't put us in the state we are in, IM. But, if you would just look at some of the conservative economic voices out there, you would see they want to put us back into a reasonable state of economic growth, without having to bow and scrape and pay homage to those who would rather see us in ruins and chains overall, imo. Slavery to debt is a terrible thing, really.

It is this kind of shit that pisses me off to no end with you conservatives. You fucked up our country and refuse to take responsibility for it. You preach responsiblity to every one all the time but yourselves. When conservatives took over this nation was  in the process of creating  budget surpluses. The surpluses were predicted for right now if we had stayed the same economic course. Instead we didn't. People fell to the conservative lie, and look at where it took us. All of this crap about someone getting checks from the goverment in order for you to throw shit hoping that it sticks is not going to work. It never has here so stop trying it.

Yes conservatives did put us in this hole Lucy. And its simply time you guys admitted it and moved towards changing yourselves, what you believe and how you deliver the message. Many of the richest of the rich support conservative policy lucy.  These are the very people who put us where we are. Damn near in ruins.

Don't talk to me about debt. Those who supported Iraq instead of supporting Bush finish the job in Afghanistan, are at fault here. NO one worried about the cost of killing, so no one should worry about the cost of keeping americans alive. NO expense was spared to fix Iraq, no expense should be spared to fix our own crumbling nation. You gladly allowed people to get in great debt to China in order to fund two wars, (one which was really unecessary) while giving tax breaks to the richest of the rich, so now just be quiet and allow us to try getting out of debt by helping those who are not rich.

You talk about a billion missing here and a bilion missing there. BIllions are missing from contractors responsible for administering funds in Iraq. Where did the money go? No one knows. This would not have been if we had never invaded Iraq. And conservatives were responsible for it.

Stop trying to act like this is something new. This has been the political way since this nation was so called founded. Why in the hell do you think that s those who controlled all the capital decided we would have a capitalist economic system?  Your a day late plus a dollar short if you are suddenly worrying about the debt. If you are bitching about how supposedly Obama has rasied a huge debt, understand the debt was going to increase regardless of what Obama did. Bush left a real bad mess behind. You don't seem to understand yet just how bad it really was. The Bush Comptroller General went around the country way before this happened and warned that what was going on was not sustainable. Yet conservatives ignored this like you ignore the reality of global warming, or should I say GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE.

Its time to out down the conspiracy theories and deal with reality Lucy. You talk about how the treasury has been robbed, yet the richest of the rich, which conservatives have supported and made excuses for from the beginning of any type of conservative movement, have been the ones doing the robbing. Your support of conservatism enables the robbery to continue. No conservative economic theorist is going to present any plan of action that does not satisfy the richest first, above and beyond anyone else. As long as you support conservatism that is exactly what you are doing also.

So it makes no sense for you to complain about being robbed, while you give the robbers ammunition to rob you again.

Maybe we are not on the same page re conservatives. Who do you think is conservative, for example? The Bushes certainly aren't, in my book, nor is Wall Street, for that matter....A lot of money has been lost during the Bush Administrations, I admit. Cannot argue that. But, how is Obama following a new policy really? I am not sure if we had that much of a surplus during the Clinton years actually? It could not have just vanished so quickly.....
