Why would gays want to be legally married really? Then, they have to face legal divorce court.

They have so much more freedom just being themselves without the social/legal constraints of marriage, imo.

interesting way to look at it... I should have given this idea of freedom more thought before I got married!

however, some people actually like to make life time committments to other people  Wink

What difference does that make?

Aren't they citizens of this nation? Don't they contribute as much as everyone else? Aren't they entitled to full consideration when it comes to their right to structure our civil society?

How does their right to be married affect everyone else and why shouldn't they have laws that work for them?

If you want to speak about Christ's teachings, there are perhaps some things we do that would not be very well-received if Christ were again here among us...specifically, how we treat others and how we treat God, I think.

Need some rest since it is late.

Goodnight and be happy for your blessings. Wish the best for others.

What's the big deal about a piece of paper saying you are a "couple" anyway?  Roll Eyes

There IS NO MARRIAGE IN HEAVEN.  Matthew 22:30 - For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

I am sure that many DEVOUT heterosexuals feel that the 'sanctity of marriage' for them is somehow depleted by gay marriage.  They should get over it and realize anyway...that there IS a higher point of view than some document to buffer human insecurities.

We don't want any insecure and unhappy bridezillas of ANY sexual preference.   Cheesy

It is not just a piece of paper. It  isn't just about a level of committment, really.

It's a sort of sacred bond that we have relegated to a sad place in society, imo.

Can someone tell me why I am being censored on this thread?

I have to know what the official policy is on this forum. I am not about to take time responding to people here only to have my words evaporate.

No one is censoring you. I've noticed changes too. I believe it's the server issue.

Sorry. It will be rectified.

That piece of paper gives them property rights and legal rights that they might not have otherwise.  If it doesn't make any difference then why do states have special legislation for the gays?

Gay couples are not a good example for young impressionable children and in case you wonder why.  Two people of the same gender cannot reproduce an offspring.  Gay behavior is frowned upon in the bible and yet a wooden Indian questions the virtue of that.  Wow, am I impressed with your point of view.

Gay behavior is an anomaly and gays are in the minority by far.  So what else do you expect?  Let's suppose two straight people are sharing an apartment.  Are they criticized and scorned?  Nope, so what is the difference when two flakes do the same thing?  It is their eight ball behavior and the fact that they are wanting to be recognized as legitimate beings.  Legislative law won't change their physical or gender makeup no matter how hard they try to become sacred cows.

What rights?  Are these marital promotional laws?  Weren't they updated by 'common-law'/'palimony'/etc. ?

What special legislation?  Does it promote gay-marriage?  If it DOES...WHY?

Ivan....WHERE in my post did I make a moral judgement regarding gays?  I recall just mentioning the marriage thing...and rather negatively.

So blame it on women who like anal sex?  Or blame lesbianism on ugly men or their mistreatment?   Whatever... Just don't blame it on a religious person who thinks sex is for reproductive purposes only.  Blame it on the atheist society who thinks that sex is a lifestyle.  That life is a buffet of pleasures.

I expect sinful human nature to continue to exist.  I expect a lot of ignorance and hypocrisy.  Particularly in a country where people have long-abandoned their elders and disregarded the elders of the existing "race".   Only elders have the capacity to understand the big picture of the true state of humankind.  Without their guidance...people are on the road to hell, whether it be through moral sin or simply the sin of pride.
